Pro Heroes & Trainees vs. Tomura Shigaraki

Pro Heroes & Trainees vs. Tomura Shigaraki is a battle taken place during the Final War between a team made up of Pro Heroes and U.A. students against "Tomura Shigaraki".

Prologue[]

In order to defeat "Tomura Shigaraki", the Heroes are not only aware that they must separate him from All For One so they can not assist each other in battle, but they also have to face him in a terrain where he cannot take advantage of his multiple Quirks. For this, U.A. High School is transformed into a floating fortress with all sorts of measures designed to counter Tomura's powers, also known as the "Coffin in the Sky".

This version of U.A. has disposable parts to prevent the Decay from spreading, with various students and heroes taking charge of repairing and replacing the damaged parts mid-battle. The battlefield is surrounded by an electromagnetic barrier to prevent "Tomura" from escaping. Outside said barrier is an electricity generator, which houses the students capable of producing electricity, including Chargebolt, Comicman, and Yuyu Haya, powering the barrier and keeping the fortress afloat.

As part of the hero force in charge of fighting "Tomura" head-on, Deku is set as a key role in the strategy to defeat him, as the bearer of One For All.^[1] Lastly, Phantom Thief copies and learns to use Kurogiri's Warp Gate Quirk so that they may catch the Villains off guard and separate them.

When everything is properly prepared, the heroes lure All For One and his allies into an ambush using Can't Stop Twinkling and Deku as bait, and with the help of containers, the heroes divide the villains into smaller groups and push them into portals created by Phantom Thief, sending them to the assigned areas.

As planned, Tomura alone is sent to U.A., but the first failure of the plan occurs when Deku was dragged into a different portal by Himiko Toga, ending up on Okuto Island, two hundred kilometers off the mainland. Dynamight, who was with him, warns Best Jeanist that something went wrong and Deku isn't there.^[2][3]

Battle[]

Best Jeanist asks what happened, but Dynamight only says that Deku was taken away somewhere else. Suneater worries about this setback and Nejire Chan suggests they warn everyone. Only Mirko doesn't seem to care about the situation and the only thing they should focus right now is facing "Tomura".

As the heroes rethink their strategy, Tomura figures that he is in a floating version of the U.A., in addition to none of the escaped convicts or members of the Paranormal Liberation Front being there, so he has to deal the heroes alone. Without giving too much importance to his situation, and telling his "other self" not to interfere this time, as soon as he lands, Tomura touches the ground and begins to destroy everything with his Decay.

However, the disposable part placed underground launches up skyward to harmlessly disintegrate to nothing, preventing the Decay from spreading. This also launches Tomura into the electromagnetic barrier, severely electrocuting him. Tomura tries to recover from the shock but before he can do it, Best Jeanist uses his Fiber Master Quirk to ensnare him with wires and slam him to the ground.

It doesn't take long for "Tomura" to break free, and as he avoids being captured again, he understands the strategy the heroes are trying to employ, taunting Best Jeanist that sooner or later they're going to run out of terrain. The hero simply replies they are never short of resources, showing him how new parts fix the area affected by Tomura's Quirk. Jeanist tells "Tomura" that the arena was constructed with the purpose of cornering and neutralizing him.

Inside the huge floating building, numerous professors and students from U.A. are working tirelessly to constantly repair pieces destroyed in battle: Power Loader reports about the destroyed metal plates, while Cementoss and Ectoplasm manage the Development Class to provide new pieces to fill the gaps. Creati uses her Quirk to produce a near-limitless amount of material to supply them with, being aided by Lunch Rush, who constantly prepares meals for her so she can using her Quirk endlessly.

Back on the surface, Best Jeanist continues his speech saying to "Tomura" that no one is fighting for honor or glory, but to stop the doom he brings. All the heroes go after him, so "Tomura" decides to shoot a shockwave to destroy the forcefield and the electricity generator on the other side, only to find out that he can't use any of his Quirks.

Turns out, standing atop the power room, Phantom Thief is using Erasure on him, with Eraser Head and Manual accompanying him; the former is in continuous contact with the Class 1-B student to circumvent his time limit for copied abilities, while the latter uses his Quirk to wet Phantom Thief's eyes so he can keep them open and on "Tomura". Despite only having one eye left, Eraser Head also contributes as best he can by using his Quirk, but he laments the absence of Deku has caused a halt in their plans.

With all his Quirks blocked, Tomura is at the mercy of the heroes, who pounce on him, but then something totally unexpected happens: "Tomura"'s left hand suddenly begins to transform into a grotesque amalgamation of fingers. This catches the heroes completely off guard, as he has never displayed such an ability previously, and before they can react, "Tomura" attacks Mirko with it, since she was the closest.^[1]

However, the attack does not end there, as the grotesque swarm of fingers continue to grow larger and larger, overrunning U.A. and causing great damage in its path, destroying one of Dynamight's Grenadier Bracers and some of Mirko's prosthetics. The Heroes ask Phantom Thief if Erasure is working to which he assures is still in effect, which means Tomura's new power does not come from any Quirk, much to their confusion.

"Tomura" confirms that his ability is just a natural growth of his body, similar to the growth of nails or hair, as his body is adapting and mutating to accommodate the power inside him, an outcome predicted in Dr. Kyudai Garaki's Quirk Singularity theory.

By losing her prosthetic right leg and left arm, Mirko managed to avoid Tomura's unforeseen attack, and immediately calls in for spares that arrive from below the battlefield. Once she's back in action, she orders Dynamight not to act too recklessly, something he doesn't take too well, starting an argument between the two that ends when Best Jeanist tells them to stay focused.

A worried Phantom Thief swears that he hasn't made any mistakes using the Erasure, with Eraser Head assuring him that he hasn't done anything wrong. Mandalay appears to report they've gotten into contact with Deku. He apologizes to his teacher for being dragged off by Himiko on Okuto Island and requests being warped to U.A., before being interrupted by the fighting.

Unfortunately, the heroes are aware that this will not be possible. Phantom Thief can't use two Quirks simultaneously, and each of innumerable growing spreading fingers that sprout from Tomura's arm has the potential to use Decay. This means that if Phantom Thief shuts using Erasure to bring Deku there, Tomura will take that opportunity to destroy the entire battlefield in one go. Considering the situation, Eraser Head tells Deku to get to U.A. on his own. Until then, the heroes declare that they will strive for victory against "Tomura", even without One For All.^[4]

Despite their boast, it is clear that the heroes have trouble dealing with the gigantic and misshapen mass of hands and fingers, not being able to do anything but dodge when it comes at them. Suneater is almost crushed by one of the tentacles, while Nejire Chan tries to hold another one back with her Wave Motion Quirk, having to move away when another tentacle attacked her from above.

The other heroes also dodge the waves of flesh, with Best Jeanist using his Quirk to move Dynamight away, who got a spare Grenadier Bracer to replace the one that was destroyed. Best Jeanist reminds everyone to keep moving to avoid being swallowed by the masses of flesh, while searching for Tomura's main body. On the bright side, he also warns them that although the hands are a massive threat, while they are active "Tomura" can't use his All Might-esque mobility.

Edgeshot uses his Ultimate Move Pulp-Thread Throttle to take a huge chunk of fingers and hands with the attack, only for more to grow in its place. Seeing this, he doubts such power is a simple "growth" and not be produced by a Quirk.

"Tomura" simply responds that it's the result of his body adapting to be able to stably contain the All For One Quirk and all the other Quirks inside him. He continues his speech declaring that with his power he will create a new world where he will end inequalities and the rejection caused by lack of understanding, having every subjected under his rule, mockingly asking the heroes if world peace isn't what they yearn for.

Dynamight responds that, even though he doesn't know if he's currently Tomura or All For One, he's sick of his speeches, and activates "Suppressive Heavy Mobile Unit: Strafe Panzer". Several guns come out of his his new support item and he starts shooting wildly, blasting large chunks of deformed flesh in his way towards "Tomura".

Thinking about all the heroes and his classmates who are giving their all, and recalling the time Izuku saved him and Tomura's words about lack of understanding results in fear and rejection, Dynamight yells the villain he already saw the real steps to overcome such issues. Seeing his trainee tearing straight through Tomura's fleshy defences delights Best Jeanist into using his full hero name. Dynamight manages to get close enough to "Tomura", unleashing a direct hit with his new Ultimate Move, Howitzer Impact: Cluster.^[5]

Dynamight's point blank explosive attack is so powerful, it reverberates throughout the fortress, being felt by both those inside and outside. Unfortunately, when the dust clears, it is revealed that "Tomura" has only been singed off the right side of his face. The villain managed to deflect most of the blast by grabbing Dynamight's right arm, wounding him in the face in the process, with his right eye bleeding.

"Tomura" commends the injured Dynamight for concentrating his explosion so as not to harm others. He then crushes his arm and begins to generate a new wave of fingers to finish Dynamight off, reminding him what he told to him last time: he is no longer interested in him or his growth.

Mirko, Best Jeanist, and Edgeshot rush to Dynamight's aid, but "Tomura" mocks them for rushing in and thinking they can deal with him in close quarters. Throwing Dynamight to the side, he attacks with his mass of fingers and the shock wave generated is enough to knock down all three heroes.

Dynamight is stunned at Tomura's sheer gap in power between them, as "Tomura" starts to move towards him, clarifying that the only thing that interests him about him is his friendship with Deku. Concerned about what is happening on the battlefield, Eraser Head asks Mandalay for Deku's status, but she informs him that they unable to reach him, as the static outside is currently preventing any communication. Eraser Head can only watch helplessly as Tomura approaches his student, desperately yelling for someone to help him.

Elsewhere in the rubble of the U.A. building, Suneater expresses to Nejire Chan he would like to have a proper graduation ceremony. A voice tells him that they will only have to ask Nezu once everything is over, but Suneater replies if they have a chance. Emerging from the ground, Lemillion motivates them to fight as The Big 3 once again, in order to protect everyone until Deku gets there.^[6]

As they jump into action, Lemillion asks Suneater and Nejire Chan to keep "Tomura" busy while he uses his Permeation Quirk to get close, and rescue Dynamight. As soon as he succeeds, he will then be in charge of keeping "Tomura" busy, in order to give Suneater time to prepare his attack.^[7]

Stepping on his head, "Tomura" rhetorically asks Dynamight where Deku is and that it shouldn't take long to reach them. Dynamight attempts to retaliate with his Strafe Panzer and the last remaining Grenadier Bracer, but "Tomura" effortlessly stops him by using his toes to grab his hair and lifts him up, grabbing him by the neck and causing his Strafe Panzer to miss the shoots as he shatters his last Bracer. The villain mocks Dynamight, recalling back when he nearly killed him in their last fight and how enraged Deku became, planning to use his corpse to welcome Deku back to U.A., taunting the boy that no matter how far he goes, he'll never escape Deku's shadow.

Nejire Chan then appears behind "Tomura" and attacks him with her Nejire Wave: Pike. "Tomura" holds Dynamight in front of him as a shield, forcing Nejire Chan to redirect the attack at the last minute. Still, this leaves "Tomura" off guard, and using his Vast Hybrid technique, Suneater sneaks up on him with Octopus Mirage and uses Scorpius Toxin to sting his back with two scorpion tails and inject venom into him.

However, "Tomura" mocks their efforts as pathetic, growing a mouth along his shoulder to expel the toxin from inside him. He then manifests another rapid flesh growth, forcing Suneater back. The villain gloats that his body is constantly adapting, and they can't bring him down.

This turns out to be primarily a distraction, as Lemillion uses his Permeation Quirk to pass right though "Tomura's" attacks and get Dynamight away from him, throwing him back towards Best Jeanist so he can take care of him while he and his teammates deal with "Tomura". The villain remembers him from the last War and he introduces himself as Lemillion.

While evading his fleshy tentacles, he asks the villain why he is hellbent on destroying everything, which he responds is because the current systems have failed. Lemillion is determined to hold him back however long he has to for Deku to arrive, knowing he isn't strong enough for it but fortunately he has backups.

Outside of the chaotic fleshy masses, Nejire Chan peers for an opening, until she spots one and fires a Wave Motion that wraps around Lemillion's right hand, just as he replies to "Tomura" that his explanation is why he never had any friends, which confuses the villain to hear. As he lands a point blank punch empowered by Nejire Chan's Quirk on "Tomura"'s body, Lemillion declares that if he did have friends, he'd know there's plenty worth keeping around.

Meanwhile, Best Jeanist tries to take care of Dynamight's broken right arm, since they still need his fire power. When his former trainee doesn't seem to react, Best Jeanist thinks his spirit is broken by the overwhelming power of Tomura, and tries to console him by saying that their foe is on a different level altogether. But then, he hears Dynamight whispering, eyes fixated on the the ongoing fight. Best Jeanist is shocked when he realizes that Dynamight is actually using his analytical skills to predict Tomura's twisted moves, showing that he is far from being broken, and intends to continue fighting.^[8]

Back to the fight, "Tomura" seems aggravated by Lemillion's words that he doesn't have any friends. Such accusation actually manages to get through to him and causes the part of his personality that represents "Tenko Shimura" to momentarily break free of All For One's control, taking control of the body to shout out hysterically at Lemillion that he really has friends.

Surprised by this outburst, Lemillion immediately apologizes for his words, before dodging another wave of flesh. While evading the monstrous fingers; Lemillion wonders what caused such unexpected reaction. Either way, he is concerned that "Tomura's" body is way tougher than the hand tentacles, as his previous wave-boosted punch barely caused any damage.

Meanwhile, All For One's personality regains control of "Tomura". He is noticeably unsettled by the momentary lapse of control despite him and Tomura Shigaraki having merged and become one, and realize that there's still a component within that hasn't been assimilated yet: Tenko Shimura, the childhood self of Tomura before his Quirk awakened. He judges that dragging the fight out is not ideal, so he decides to walk towards Dynamight, ignoring Lemillion who he knows is just trying to buy time.

Best Jeanist steps up to face "Tomura" in order to protect Dynamight. "Tomura" scoffs at his efforts, stating that the huge battlefield they built to contain him will actually be their tombs. Nejire Chan appears and shoots several Pikes at him, but the villain just protects himself and counterattacks by generating more flesh tentacles. Nejire Chan tries to dodge them the best she can, and although she suffers some injuries, she doesn't stop attacking.

In actuality, all those attacks were to keep "Tomura" distracted, and give Suneater time to prepare his Ultimate Move, the Plasma Cannon. Unleashing the full power of his Manifest Quirk, Suneater combines the traits of various aspects and characteristics of animals and plants he has eaten for the occasion to generate a gigantic organic cannon. Nejire Chan then fires one of her Wave Motions directly toward Suneater, which he absorbs and amplifies, providing enough energy for the shot.^[7]

"Tomura" realizes what he intends to do, and attempts to stop him by attacking with an onslaught of fingers, but Suneater fires before it reaches him. "Tomura" manages to withstand the energy attack, so Lemillion intervenes by punching him in the face, providing an opening for the beam to completely envelop the villain's body, reaching miles beyond the barrier.

As the smoke from the explosion starts to settle, Nejire Chan is shocked to see that, despite the immense power unleashed by the Plasma Cannon, it still isn't enough to hurt "Tomura". The villain strikes back while taunting the Big 3 that such an attack could not have killed All Might in his prime. Then, "Tomura" realizes the injured Dynamight has gotten up, and is walking towards him. Best Jeanist tries to stop him from fighting, but he says to take care of the others, while telling Deku that they must win.

Best Jeanist attempts to restrain Dynamight with his fibers, but before he can do so, the young hero uses his Cluster to charge at "Tomura", at such a great speed the villain does not have time to dodge the blow, being injured in the face. "Tomura" tries to attack back but Dynamight manages to evade each of his blows. His allies are amazed at his prowess despite his wounds, and Best Jeanist realizes his trainee is able to predict the movements of his opponent.

Dynamight continues to evade and counter, overtaxing his Cluster technique to give himself a tremendous speed boost, without thinking about the painful side effects this can cause to his body, and wondering if now he will be able to catch up to Deku.

For his part, "Tomura" starts to feel increasingly uneasy, as he cannot comprehend a mere "extra" being capable of facing him even without One for All, suddenly getting vague memories of the Second User of One For All. This whole situation makes him start to feel anxious and panic, which enrages him so he releases a massive attack, yelling at Dynamight to die.

As that happens, Katsuki finds himself in a white void, where he sees a visage of All Might. He remembers that since the first time they met, he regretted being too stubborn and not having asked the number one Hero to sign the All Might card he and Izuku got when they were kids.

Back in the real world, the Big 3, Mirko, and Best Jeanist desperately try to reach Dynamight to save him from "Tomura's" attack. Unfortunately, none of them are fast enough to reach him in time, and "Tomura" lands the fatal blow, bursting Dynamight's heart and sending him flying. The heroes are all shocked beyond belief by what has happened. Best Jeanist is the first to reach him, only to scream out at Dynamight's heart, as his body lies lifeless on the ground with a hole in his chest.^[9]

Phantom Thief looks on in horror at Dynamight's supposed demise, being left in complete disbelief as he thinks back on his vow to achieve perfect victory at any cost during the Joint Training Battle. Best Jeanist watches over Dynamight and confirms that there is no pulse in him, and his heart is shredded to pieces. Lemillion is horrifically devastated to realize that he had failed in his promise to protect everyone.

"Tomura" asserts that this time, Dynamight is "well and truly dead", and proceeds to taunt to Eraser Head about it, mocking that he turned out quite a letdown for standing on the sidelines while his student fought in his place, making him responsible for his demise. He then asks the remaining Heroes who wants to be another corpse for Deku, as he holds Mirko in the air while ripping her prosthetic arm with his mass of fingers.

The Rabbit Hero expresses her frustration at not being able to finish him off in the previous war, when he was still defenseless in the lab. Indifferent to Mirko biting off his flesh, "Tomura" simply reassures her that she was not the only hero who failed in Jaku, and considering that there are now very few Heroes to face the Villains, they had no choice to put the rookies onto the front lines to make up for many of their desertions, so the Heroes condemned some of them to die in battle. "Tomura" declares that despite them taking the initiative and hitting them with all they had, they didn't come with enough people or plans.^[10]

While Mirko and Lemillion continue to struggle against "Tomura", Best Jeanist keeps watch over Dynamight's inert body, when a battered Edgeshot approaches them, intending to save the boy's life. Since he has a deep understanding of the human body, he intends to use his Quirk to repair the internal damage, declaring Dynamight to be a life they absolutely cannot afford to lose.

Seeing this, "Tomura" says that it is useless, but Edgeshot interrupts him, screaming for Mirko to continue resisting no matter what to hold back "Tomura". Best Jeanist understands the outcome of what he's going to do and tells Edgeshot that he will probably not make it if he does. The Ninja Hero is fully aware of this and solemnly says that he leaves the rest in his hands.

Edgeshot uses his Ultimate Move, the Thousand Sheet Pierce: Zenith, to turn his body into an extremely thin and long razor-sharp thread.^[11] He disinfects himself using a bubble Wash gave him before inserting himself into Dynamight's wound, stitching up his heart and any other damaged organs, performing CPR from inside his own body. Edgeshot feels like his own life expectancy is carving away, yet he continues trying to revive Dynamight, as he thinks to the Heroes to keep on fighting.

"Tomura" turns to Best Jeanist and tells him that there is no use trying to save Dynamight, as he already destroyed him. Yet, seeing the Heroes persevere, reminds him of his desires of destroying everything. Enraged, he charges at them, reiterating his words. By doing this, he loses his focus on Mirko, who breaks free of his hold and delivers a hard kick to his head from behind.

Apparently unaffected by the blow, "Tomura" catches her by the right arm with one of his hand-mouths, asking if she wants to be crunched so badly. Mirko just mocks him, ripping her own arm off in order to free herself, and delivers another kick to "Tomura". The villain staggers because of it, which surprises him as it shouldn't be possible with his improved body, but then he realizes that his previous fight against Dynamight had something to do with it.

Best Jeanist quickly uses his Quirk to apply a tourniquet to Mirko's stump to stop the bleeding, and despite her wounds, a feral Mirko charges straight back at the villain. "Tomura" goes to counter her, but Lemillion suddenly appears through the misshapen wave of fingers and covers "Tomura's" eyes with his hands, blocking his vision and diverting his attention, allowing Mirko to use her Luna Rush to continue the beatdown with a series of fast-paced attacks.

While all this was happening, "Tomura's" mind was filled with confusion as he didn't understand how Dynamight's previous attacks could affect him so much. It then finally dawns on him: his rage during his onslaught and the uneasiness he felt was because he felt a threat in him. After receiving Mirko's attack, the Tenko aspect of "Tomura" begins to resurface again. Seeing the Heroes desperately continue to fight him despite being injured causes him to be overwhelmed by memories of his dead family. He feels displeased and resentful about this, because when he was just a child and needed help, no Heroes or anyone reached out a hand to him or even acknowledged him. This causes his body to start changing once again.^[12]

Due to the Eraser Head and Phantom Thief constantly nullifying his ability to regenerate, Tomura's body begins to transform into a more compact and maneuverable form to take on the Heroes, responding to the accumulated damage and Tomura's will to destroy everything. This results in his body being covered by a mutated mass of fingers, as if it were some kind of armor in order to protect him from any threats that he's about to face, and his left arm mutated into a hulking hand with the fingers made from the faces of his family.

Undeterred by this transformation, Mirko prepares to continue attacking Tomura, but he easily defeats her with one hard punch from his mutated left hand. Lemillion yells her name in desperation, but then Tomura turns his attention to Suneater. Before he can react, Tomura swats him away with a simple backhand. Nejire Chan starts to shoot at him from the air, but the only thing she achieves is that she becomes the new target of the villain's rampage. Lemillion despairingly tries to stop him from striking back, but can't stop Tomura from knocking Nejire Chan down by throwing debris at her.

Tomura turns his back on Lemilion and mocks him for not being a threat, further frustrating Lemillion as he realizes that Tomura doesn't even consider him worth his time. The villain runs towards Best Jeanist, yelling at him not to fix what he already broke. The hero prepares to trap him in a cage of wires, wondering if this new defensive state is the conclusion he's reached. Lemillion tries to assist him but Tomura easily brushes him off like nothing and continues his charge toward Best Jeanist.

A powerless Lemillion can only watch as Best Jeanist uses all his meager strength to hold Tomura back while Mirko, Suneater, and Nejire Chan are barely alive on the ground. With all seemingly being lost, Lemillion begins to wonder if this is really the "bright future" that Sir Nighteye foresaw for him. Suddenly, Mandalay begins to transmit a telepathic message, asking to drop the electromagnetic barrier and to hold Tomura for at least two seconds. However, for Best Jeanist, those mere two seconds is more than what they can buy, as he can't restrain Tomura for much longer and is about to be crushed by him.

With fear in his eyes, Lemillion desperately tries to think of how to stop Tomura for the two seconds that Mandalay has asked for, but he knows that he has neither the power nor the ability to achieve it. In his desperation, he remembers the words of his old master, to keep smiling, and how a world without humor has no bright future. These words allow Lemillion to come up with a plan to distract the villain.

When Tomura is about to wreck Best Jeanist, Lemillion suddenly appears from below in front of him, mooning him with his butt. Such a silly technique actually works, as Tomura is so completely befuddled by this he stops his rampage in his tracks, and even can't help but let out an involuntary laugh because of it.

Tomura is unaware that just then, the electromagnetic barrier has opened, and outside is Deku, clinging to the poles with Blackwhip, having finally arrived with the help of Star and Stripe's allies. When Tomura looks up, he and Deku make eye contact, before the young hero slingshots himself right into Tomura with a Smash, sending him spiraling in mid-air.^[13]

Aftermath[]

After arriving into the battlefield, Deku turns to everyone to apologize for being late, only to be stunned into silence upon seeing all them all unconscious and barely alive, and in particular Dynamight's comatose body. "Tomura" takes this opportunity to mock Deku for being late, figuring it was Himiko's doing, and asking if he has any excuse to run from his responsibility.

This begins to overwhelm Deku's emotions through his feelings of rage and fear, causing his Quirks to spiral out of control. "Tomura" is glad for this, because of how simplistic his movements become in this enraged state, so prepares to counter his attack and break his spine. But just then, Lemillion appears from below Deku, screaming at him to snap out of it, telling him that all the Heroes are still breathing and that Edgeshot is trying to revive Dynamight, so he needs to not give into despair because they haven't lost anything yet.

"Tomura" responds that it is all just empty talk to avoid facing reality, but Lemillion responds that as Heroes, they need to be the ones to transform their ideals into reality. Thinking back on All Might and Daigoro Banjo's words, Deku is able to calm himself down, regaining control of his body, apologizing to Lemillion. He then turns to "Tomura", asking "All For One" if Tomura is still in there.^[14]
