Chapter 402

The Tearful Days (THE (ザ) ・TEARFUL (ティアフル) DAYS (デイズ) , Za Tiafuru Deizu^?) is the four hundred and second chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia.

Summary[]

At the Counter-Force HQ, they report in on Shoto's success in extinguishing Dabi's heat and saving the civilians, as well as Himiko's defeat and her Doubles vanishing. At this moment, the Twice Doubles disrupting the floating U.A. begin to fade away. Creati had been protecting Mei from the Doubles while she was doing repairs, as the latter states with them all gone, U.A. is much lighter so they can keep floating. The Counter-Force then report on All For One reaching Tomura's location, where he and Deku are currently fighting. Naomasa thinks about how ever since Deku jumped down from U.A., their battle has been at a stalemate, but he remains anxious.

All For One states that ever since injecting himself with the Rewind Drug, getting to that location has been his goal, to give his copy of All For One to Tomura, so that he can become a stronger version of himself. All Might attempts to get him to focus on him, but All For One ignores him and activates his Warping Quirk on Tomura, so as not to deal with Deku's interference. However instead, Tomura rejects this, swallowing the gloop and telling his Master not to butt in. All For One realizes that Tomura's consciousness has overcome his, looking down at All Might and smiling that he'll have to do the legwork himself.

The Business Course students within U.A. notice All For One flying toward the school, carrying the battered All Might by the leg, telling him to show them how pathetic he looks and to take responsibility for the dreams he filled their heads with. Tomura attempts to distract Deku by telling him to go save All Might, thinking it is perfect as then he can go back to U.A. and break everyone who beat him earlier.

Seeing the dangling All Might, Deku thinks about how he thought he put his tearful days behind him, but now he is holding back his tears once again, so he can be the best apprentice. However, sensing the vestige of All Might within One For All starting to fade away, he screams out to All Might. Meanwhile, All Might thinks about how Deku can be a hero even without a Quirk, because he is someone who gives his all every time, and is someone who could never let their dream die, just like how he can't abandon his dream of being a Symbol of Peace.

All Might grabs hold of All For One tightly, causing All For One to suddenly flashback to Nana Shimura's final moments, when she sacrificed herself to save All Might's life. He remembers her last words when she said All Might will be the one to defeat him, because he is even more unhinged than himself. He realizes what he is about to do, as All Might confidently asks if he will turn into a kindergartener again after this death, as he is ready to blow up the both of them.
