Friends (FRIENDS (フレンズ) Furenzu?) is the three hundred and seventy-third chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia.

Summary[]

The uprising is over

The fighting begins to stop.

While Present Mic heads into Central Hospital after Spinner, Tentacole and Anima continue to try to hold off the rampaging heteromorphs. One of the people in the crowd is about to attack Tentacole, but he is suddenly stopped by a fellow member, causing most of the fighting to stop as everyone looks on in surprise. The heteromorph stares at the people standing in front of the Hospital's entrance, saying he thinks they're using their anger the wrong way.

The Liberation warrior held down by Anima calls out to them to not stop and follow their leader, to let everyone know of the abuse they've endured. The man responds that he still hates how he has been beaten up for no reason, but also worries if he's being indecisive, stating that he got excited over the "call to action" and since the world turned on them they had to turn in upside down. He thought the time was finally right with their leader, but now wonders if the entire world is truly their enemy, and that he doesn't want to hurt the people in the hospital.

The Liberation warrior is enraged at them coming around thanks to Tentacole's words, stating that they made sure to radicalize them to the point that their passion would allow them to reach supremacy. He calls out to them not to stop and think, while most of the civilians in the army stop their push, causing other Liberation soldiers to cry out why they're not marching forward.

The heteromorph asks if he was wrong to come and should've stayed quiet at home, but Tentacole says that the feelings that gathered them all together weren't wrong, as the ones who've hurt them haven't been dragged into the light yet. After a Hero apologizes to the warrior for not realizing their struggles, Tentacole continues that they are all a bright shining example, so they must use this light to change the people who inflict harm, until they feel ashamed of all their cruelty. Rock Lock looks on, noticing how all movement and passion from the army has ceased, thinking about all they could do to defend themselves was fight, and calls out for reinforcements to move toward the hospital.

Kurogiri reawakens

"I am... the protector of... Tomura Shigaraki."

Meanwhile, in the research wing, Spinner is blasted toward the ground by Present Mic's Voice, destroying the recorder containing All For One and Tomura's voices. Mic worries about what to do to stop Kurogiri's release, noting that he hasn't reacted at all since that day, and if he's already broken. Spinner reverts back to his true form, unable to move his body, and looks on believing that he has failed, with no one following him, and no way to wake Kurogiri up. He realizes the passion got him worked up to take a stand, but in actuality, all he wanted was to follow Tomura and help him stand tall, noticing Tomura's remaining hand on the ground.

Present Mic rushes toward Kurogiri, thinking about Oboro and how they don't want to lose their good memories of him, preparing to finish him off for good. However, with his memories of Tomura fuelling him, Spinner grabs the hand, placing it toward Kurogiri, and telling him to save Tomura. As a result, "Kurogiri" breaks free from his restraints, and with the face of Oboro partially appearing, declares he is "the protector of Tomura Shigaraki".
