Official description[]

Jedi younglings Kai, Lys and Nubs go on their first adventure.

Plot summary[]

Late for the flight[]

At the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Jedi Master Yoda tells a group of youngling Jedi Initiates that they will be heading to different temple outposts across the galaxy to continue learning and training under their teachers. Master Zia Zaldor Zanna asks the droid Dee if the younglings are ready for their trip to Tenoo. Dee replies that all but three younglings are ready for the trip. Master Zanna guesses that the three errant younglings are Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs.

Meanwhile in a training chamber, the three younglings are attempting to break their training record by sparring with remotes. While Solay distracts the remote droids with her lightsaber, Nubs gives Brightstar a Force jump which allows him to advance to the next level of the exercise. He is surrounded by the training remotes but thinks he can handle them on his own. Nubs and Solay come to his aid with Solay reminding him about the importance of friendship.

Working together, the three younglings walk backwards up a platform to reach the beacon while fending off the remotes' blasts. Having reached their destination, the remotes deactivate. The three younglings hug each other as they celebrate their victory. Master Zanna contacts them via hologram to tell the younglings that their shuttle to Tenoo is leaving. Brightstar apologizes to Zia for being late. Zanna tells them that they will be leaving on the last shuttle.

Meeting Nash Durango[]

The Jedi younglings meet Nash Durango and RJ-83 for the first time.

Elsewhere in the hangar, Nash Durango and her droid RJ-83 work together to finish repairs on the Crimson Firehawk. Shortly later, Brightstar, Solay and Nubs arrive searching for the last shuttle. Durango tells them that her ship will be their shuttle and that she will be their pilot. Brightstar is surprised since Durango is a "kid." Durango counters that they are also kids before introducing herself and RJ-83. Brightstar introduces himself and his fellow younglings.

Durango introduces the younglings to her ship but apologizes she hasn't completed her repairs. Nubs is startled by a leaking pipe. Inside the cockpit, Durango explains that the Firehawk was an old ship that her parents allowed her and RJ-83 to repair. Durango tells the Jedi that her parents run a shuttle company on Tenoo that transports people and goods across the galaxy. RJ-83 and Durango fly the Firehawk above Coruscant. Once in orbit, RJ-83 activates the hyperdrive, taking the ship into hyperspace.

While traveling through hyperspace, Durango invites the younglings to the ship's living area while RJ watches the cockpit. Durango encourages the Jedi to make themselves feel at home. Durango helps himself to a bowl of fruits from the fridge while Durango introduces Brightstar to Giggs, a Gedonian Ground Weevil that she is taking to an animal preserve on Tenoo. Solays pats Giggs, who takes a liking to her. Brightstar explains that Solays gets along with animals.

Brightstar takes an interest in Durango's hologame table, which the Jedi don't have access to since they spend much of their time training as Jedi Knights. Durango is curious about the Jedi and ask if they are heroes who go around saving the day. Brightstar agrees and explains that Jedi Knights help others and train in the ways of the Force. Durango asks if Jedi can levitate objects. Solay confirms this is the case but explains that using the Force takes practice, training and concentration.

Pirate trouble[]

RJ-83 exits the cockpit to tell them that they have arrived at Tenoo. Durango and the younglings return to the cockpit where she takes them out of hyperspace. While gazing at Tenoo's green landmass, Durango is contacted by the Latero chef Hap who warns her that the pirates are raiding his store and asks if her Jedi passengers can help. Hap is surprised that her passengers are children but Solay and Brightstar is confident that they can deal with the pirates due to their Jedi training. Hap accepts their help but tells them to hurry.

Taborr Val Dorn and his gang raid Hap's Sap Tap.

At the Kublop Springs marketplace, Taborr Val Dorn and his gang associates EB-3 and Pord menace Hap, who suggests that they spend their time playing with other children. Val Dorn counters that being a pirate is fun and "that they take whatever they want." Hap frets and tells the Jedi to hurry up. Above Kublip Springs, Durango introduces her passengers to her hometown. The younglings are mesmerized by the giant trees around the settlement but Durango reminds them that she can't give a tour right now due to the pirate menace.

At the docking bay, Durango tells the Jedi that she has to stay with her ship and to contact her on this comlink if they need help. Brightstar thanks Durango before leading his friends to deal with the pirates. Meanwhile, Val Dorn and his friends prepare to make off with their loot in a cart. Before Val Dorn can claim Hap's cap, Brightstar tells them to stop and to return their loot. Val Dorn is unwilling to surrender his spoils and tells Pord and EB-3 to take the loot back to his starship while he deals with the Jedi.

Val Dorn brandishes a double-bladed electrostaff. Brightstar draws his lightsaber in return and parries with Val Dorn. Solay and Nubs attempt to block Pord and EB-3 but Pord hurls vine-like objects at Nubs, which he finds delicious. Solay throws a round table into the path of EB-3 and the cart, causing him to fall over. Brightstar and Val Dorn continue fighting in Hap's cafe. They two notice each other's skills.

Seeing that Solay and Nubs have cornered EB-3 and Pord, Val Dorn abandons the fight and uses his weapon to break several branches, which descend towards Hap's cafe. Brightstar and his friends are forced to use their Force powers to break the descent of the branches, causing them to land safely on the floor. Hap thanks the children but warns that the pirates have escaped with his belongings. The optimistic Brightstar contacts Durango for help.

Celebration-TYJ

The Jedi younglings get rid of the pirates with the support of the local residents.

While Val Dorn and his gang are loading their loot aboard his starship, Durango arrives with the Firehawk. RJ-83 descends with a crane hook and secures it around the cart. Durango uses the crane to pull it up. Under Val Dorn's orders, Pord and EB-3 manage to retrieve the cart by pulling it down. Brightstar, Solay and Nubs arrive at the docking bay. Brightstar Force jumps in front of the cart and pushes it back. This infuriates Val Dorn who protests. Brightstar responds that it belongs to the local people and tells the pirate to leave. The younglings are supported by several Kublop Springs local residents. Val Dorn concedes defeat but warns that he will make the Jedi wish they have never come out here. Pord and EB-3 board the starship as well. The younglings and locals cheer as the pirates depart on their starship.

New home[]

Later, Durango flies the three younglings to the Jedi Temple on Tenoo, which Brightstar finds beautiful from above. He apologizes to Master Zia for being late. Zanna says she is proud of what Brightstar and his friends have accomplished. Brightstar compliments his friends and "new friends." Zanna agrees to give them a tour of the Jedi Temple, which will be the younglings' new home. As they enter the temple, Brightstar assures Nubs that there will be food and that he can help himself to second helpings.
