The Trash compactor is where Wookieepedians discuss whether or not an article or other page should be deleted and/or redirected to another page, or recreated after previously being deleted. Pages listed here are debated until the community reaches a consensus.

Starting a Trash compactor vote[]

Anyone may nominate an article or other page for deletion or redirecting through the Trash compactor. To do so, simply add {{TC}} to the top of the page(s) and follow the template's instructions.

If you wish to instead propose the restoration of a previously deleted page, create the voting page by entering a suitable title (e.g., "Nevana's father" or "Rex's resistance network (third nomination)") in the box below, and after clicking "Create new vote," change the voting options accordingly in the source code of the pre-filled vote page that you will then be redirected to.

The creation of a Trash compactor vote will then be automatically broadcast in the #announcements channel on Discord.

Voting[]

ConsensusTrack
  1. Only registered users who are eligible per the Voting eligibility policy may vote on TCs.
  2. Using multiple screennames and/or getting your friends to sign up for a Wookieepedia account for the sole purpose of voting on a TC is a violation of the sockpuppet policy, and as such the offending votes will be removed and the users involved will be blocked.

Result[]

  1. The Trash compactor process is governed by the Consensus policy and a vote usually lasts two weeks.
  2. Once consensus is reached, a page up for deletion can be
    1. KEPT
    2. MERGED with an existing page
    3. REDIRECTED to an existing page
    4. DELETED
    5. Other options include the page being turned into a disambiguation
If no consensus is reached, the page is kept by default.
  3. An administrator will close the vote once consensus is reached, or no consensus has been achieved and the vote has been idle for at least five days. Instructions can be found here.
  4. Unless there is a question of procedural irregularity, the TC result is final. Pages that have been deleted should not be recreated unless another vote is held to overturn the original decision.

Remember, site policies and practices regarding user conduct still apply on Trash compactor forums. Abusive and condescending language will not be tolerated. Comment on the content, not the contributors.
