For other uses, see Fireball (disambiguation).

Fireball was a rogue clone trooper who was a member of the Clone Underground network that was created by Clone Captain Rex early in the Imperial Era. Fireball was part of a mission that was involved in an attack on the prisoner transport ship alongside Gregor, Echo, and Nemec that rescued Howzer and two other clones.[4] He[5] would eventually be killed while defending the Underground's base on the planet Teth from an Imperial clone assassin, CX-2.[3]

Biography[]

Clone Wars[]

Fireball[4] was created on the planet Kamino as a clone of the human bounty hunter Jango Fett[1] to serve as a clone trooper in the Galactic Republic's clone army during the Clone Wars against the Separatist Alliance.[6] At some point after the end of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire, Fireball went rogue and joined Rex's Clone Underground.[4]

The attack on the prisoner transport[]

Around 18 BBY,[7] Fireball took part in an attack on an Imperial Gozanti-class cruiser that was transporting disobedient clones from Balmorra to an unknown location. After boarding the vessel, Fireball was ordered by Echo to free Howzer and his men while he and Nemec secured the ship's bridge. After freeing and arming the clone prisoners, Fireball and the raiding party fled the ship upon the arrival of an Imperial Venator-class Star Destroyer. As the prisoner transport ship was strafed and destroyed by a squadron of V-wing starfighters, Fireball and the other rogue clones jumped to hyperspace in their ship.[4]

Death[]

At some point around the same year;[2] Fireball was present at the Clone Underground Hideout at the B'omarr Order Monastery on the planet Teth when a brainwashed Imperial clone assassin, CX-1, was captured and brought in for interrogation. When Clone Force 99 arrived to help with the interrogation, Fireball offered to cook for the group. When the clone assassin CX-2 attacked the Clone Underground base in order to kill CX-1 for failing his mission, Fireball grabbed a flamethrower in an attempt to throw off the assassin's aim and cover the others retreat, but he was shot in the shoulder, causing him to drop his weapon and collapse to the ground. The flamethrower ignited a nearby thermal detonator, which triggered several other detonators and caused a massive explosion that killed Fireball and buried the outpost in rubble.[3]

Personality and traits[]

Trooper-Fireball

Fireball's unique armor.

As a clone of Jango Fett, Fireball stood 1.83 meters tall and had tan-colored skin. Fireball was extremely proficient with blasters, taking out multiple stormtroopers with ease. He was also shown to be a very capable pilot. He showed selflessness and bravery when their base on Teth was attacked, grabbing a flamethrower and jumping in the line of fire to cover the others when he saw that Nemec was downed. At the Clone Underground base on Teth, Fireball was able to cook for the troops. When the Bad Batch visited the base, he cooked food that was of Gregor's personal recipe, with his own spicy modifications added.[3]

Equipment[]

Fireball was equipped in standard Phase II clone trooper armor that was dyed a tint of dark green. The visor of Fireball's helmet was also green in coloration.[4]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Per the reasoning here, Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch takes place around 18 BBY. The tally marks made by Omega in The Bad Batch Season 3's first episode, "Confined," indicate the episode must take place at least 21 standard days following her capture, as depicted in the Season 2 episode "Plan 99." According to StarWars "Confined" Trivia Guide | Star Wars The Bad Batch on StarWars.com (backup link), Omega then spends about one hundred and sixty-four further days in captivity by the end of "Confined." As such, the events of Season 3 must begin around 18 BBY and carry on from there.

  7. Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. Therefore, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "The Clone Conspiracy" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
