Official description[]

Large creatures take over the landing pad at Nash's garage.

Plot summary[]

Unwelcome guests[]

While flying Jedi Vectors through the skies of the planet Tenoo, Jedi Initiates Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs receive a distress call from their friend Nash Durango, who tells them that she needs help at her garage. Landing at Durango's garage, they find that her garage has been occupied by several large purple birds. Durango and RJ-83 break free from a bird that has nested on top of them.

Inside Nash Durango's home, Durango explains that her moms are traveling back with a visitor named Gripp Liskell, who transports a lot of shipments around Tenoo's sector and is a potential partner. Durango fears that the presence of the birds will make it hard for her mothers' ship to land and would discourage Liskell from doing business with them. When Brightstar asks where the birds came from, Durango says she doesn't know and that she tried driving them away with bird seeds, shooing, and making tooka cat noises.

RJ-83 beeps in Binary. Durango says that her mothers work so hard and that she just want everything to go well. Brightstar reassures her that the Jedi came to help and that he has some ideas. Brightstar and Nubs try speaking to the birds and telling them to leave. One of the bird caws back in response. Solay tries imitating a bird noise but the birds laugh at her. The Jedi try to use the Force to lift one of the birds but the bird ignores them.

Nub's idea[]

Back inside Durango, Brightstar and Solay admit they are out of ideas. Nubs finds several large purple berries, which Durango explains came from a shipment that they were hoping to use as ingredients for a pie. Brightstar tells Nubs that he doesn't think it is the right time for snacks. Speaking in Poobian, Nub explains that the berries are for the birds. After one of the birds eats a berry, Nubs tells his friends that he has an idea.

Working together the Jedi, Durango and RJ-83 serve the birds three cartons worth of berries. Though the younglings hope the birds will leave, the birds instead summon more of their kind, who congregate in Durango's garage. Durango is frustrated that the birds will not leave. While Solay serves a bird a berry, she discovers that they are baby firehawks, a species of super rare birds that are native to Tenoo. When Durango says that firehawk shave glowing red feathers, Solay explains that hatchlings get a few red feathers inside their wings after they hatch.

Repainting the Firehawk[]

Durango is delighted to encounter firehawks, having named her ship Crimson Firehawk after them. Durango recalls that firehawks migrate to a new home every 50 years. Solay adds that baby firehawks follow an adult when they are migrating. Solay and Durango realize that the baby firehawks lost sight of their parent. When Solay asks where they are supposed to go, Durango recalls old legends that they reside in rocky cliffs. She believes they are heading for Gripp's Landing, which is one of the most beautiful rocky cliffs on Tenoo.

When Durango asks how they can lure them there, Solay proposes using the Firehawk to lure them there. Solay enlists the help of her friends in disguising the starship as an adult firehawk. This includes painting the ship red and yellow, and adding panels designed to resemble red feathers. Durango is impressed by the paint job. The firehawk chicks also believe the ship is an adult firehawk.

Flight to Gripp's Landing[]

Putting their plan into action, Durango and RJ-83 fly the Firehawk while the Jedi younglings fly Jedi Vectors in order to herd the firehawk chicks. The firehawk chicks follow the starships into the skies above Kublop Springs. Brightstar guides a stray firehawk chick back to the flock. During the flight, Durango's mothers tell their daughter that they will be home earlier than expected and hope the garage is clean.

After some deliberation, Durango decides that they should prioritize getting the start firehawk chicks hone first over cleaning up the garage. Durango tells the team to stay in formation. Upon arriving at Gripp's Landing, they see numerous adult firehawks flying in formation or nesting in the cliffs. The firehawk chicks reunite with their parents. The Jedi and Durango then fly back home in their starships.

Homecoming[]

Back at the garage, they are joined by Kryys and Ceeli Durango, who ask what happened. Durango briefs her mothers about the trouble with the flock of lost baby firehawks. Mr Liskell takes an interest in the firehawks, whom he describes as his favourite birds. He asks Durango if she found a way to safely get them to leave. Durango also credits her friends. Liskell describes the birds as stubborn creatures. When Durango apologizes for the mess, Liskell says that he will be honored to work with simeone who can handle firehawks. Kryys thanks Durango for doing the right thing. Durango thanks her wingmates and offers to take Liskell to see the firehawks.
