In 228 BBY,[2] the occupation of Naboo was carried out by the Nihil pirates after[1] the Mid Rim[4] planet Naboo was conquered by forces led by General[1] Abediah Viess.[3] The regional and planetary governments ultimately surrendered to Viess, and the reigning Naboo queen managed to escape with the help of her guard and went into hiding. While the planet was occupied, the San Tekka clan members Marlowe and Vellis San Tekka, who lived on Naboo within a compound gave Viess a substantial amount of money as tribute so they could maintain a pretense of freedom on the world, but both ultimately fled to Republic space as refugees. San Tekka clan member Cair San Tekka noted that those who were trapped on Naboo and had resources or a title also tributed the general in a similar way to his relatives. During their occupation, the Nihil established a military base.[1] Later that year,[2] the Jedi Order and Republic Defense Coalition liberated Naboo, ending the Nihil's occupation of the world.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 Per the reasoning here, the events of The High Republic: Defy the Storm and The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, which take place at least one year and two weeks and one year and a few months after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, respectively, must take place in 228 BBY. As Defy the Storm and Temptation of the Force establish that Naboo was conquered between the two novels, it must have occurred that year. Temptation of the Force also depicts Naboo's liberation, therefore meaning the occupation began and ended in that year.
