Chubs fighting Crust in "Mirko, The No. 5 Hero"

Chubs (おでぶ, Odebu^?) was one of Doctor Garaki's intelligent High-End Nomu that he kept in his lab under Jaku General Hospital. He and his kin act as some of the secondary antagonists of the Paranormal Liberation War Arc.

Appearance[]

Chubs possesses a bulging, round physique. His legs are replaced from the thigh down with robotic thrusters, and his two hands are combined with mouths with tongues and teeth. Several mouths line his body when using his Mouth Quirk and small vertebrae jut out of his back. He has a strange metal grid grafted to his head that hides his brain.

Personality[]

Being originated from the body of a glutton, Chubs is far less mobile than most of the other High-Ends, however he still possesses a desire to follow his orders and fight opponents, though preferring to face them head-on. Chubs also displays some semblance of intelligence and knowledge, as he not only knew to deal with Crust when he first arrived to the fight, but he even recognized and knew who he was.

History[]

Before being turned into a High-End Nomu, Chubs was once a glutton. He was carefully selected by Doctor Garaki to be made into a Nomu.^[1]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc[]

As the Heroes start their raid on Jaku Hospital, Doctor Garaki prepares to use Johnny's Quirk to warp himself and Tomura Shigaraki to safety. Before he can, however, Mirko bursts inside his lab, inadvertently killing Johnny in the process.

The now trapped Doctor releases five High-End Nomu, one of them being Chubs, in an effort to push Mirko back as he tends to Tomura.^[2] While his brethren focused on protecting the Doctor and fighting Mirko, Chubs noticed the Pro Hero Crust arriving to the fight, immediately recognizing him and going to hold him off, to Crust's surprise.

Chubs proceeded to use his immense size to block off the entrance to Doctor Garaki's lab, and despite Crust utilizing his Shield Quirk to tear through his body and being assisted by other heroes, he managed to hold off and absorb all the attacks thrown at him. It took Eraser Head eventually arriving and using his Erasure to shut down his Quirks, allowing Chubs to be blown backward opening the entrance to the lab.

He is eventually overwhelmed by the rest of the Pro Heroes that soon arrive to assist, and then alongside the rest of the High-Ends, is destroyed by Tomura's Decay.

Abilities[]

Overall Abilities: Like other Nomu, he was shown to be decently powerful.

• Enhanced Strength: Using his Metal Teeth Quirk, he managed to munch through one of No. 6 Hero's, Crust's, larger shields, ones specifically created to protect fellow heroes and hold the Nomu from advancing.
• Enhanced Durability: Befitting his stature, Chubs is a damage sponge, able to take powerful attacks from high ranked Pro Heroes like Crust with little trouble.

Tactical Intellect: Like other High Ends, he can speak, though with slight stuttering, with enough cognitive ability to recognize Crust. Using his Body Expansion Quirk to great potential, he blocked off the passage to the main laboratory, all by himself, to prevent any heroes from interfering with Woman and the other High Ends attempted execution of Mirko, to prevent any more heroes from interfering with Doctor Garaki's attempted awakening of Tomura Shigaraki and even forced the heroes on the back-foot during this obstacle creation, wearing them down with his Quirks. However, this was cut short when Eraser Head erased all of the Nomu's Quirks, allowing Chubs to be expelled from the passage and ending his attempt to hold back the heroes.

Quirks[]

Super Regeneration (超再生, Chōsaisei^?): Like all High-End Nomu, Chubs possessed this Quirk, which gave him the ability to regenerate from any damage he took.

Unnamed Body Expansion Quirk: This Quirk allowed Chubs to swell his body, making it bigger and able to absorb more attacks, as well as to block off routes.

Unnamed Mouth Quirk: This Quirk allowed Chubs to grow ridges of teeth and gums all over his body to increase his biting capabilities.

Unnamed Metal Teeth Quirk: This Transformation Quirk turns Chubs' teeth into metal, giving him increased bite strength and jaw durability, enough to shatter the shields of the No. 6 Hero, Crust.
