Episode 124

Dabi's Dance (ダビダンス, Dabi Dansu^?) is the one hundred and twenty-fourth episode of the My Hero Academia anime and the eleventh episode of the sixth season.

Summary[]

A large cargo plane is seen flying toward the battlefields of the War as the passenger of the plane asks that they arrive at their location in five minutes or less. The pilot responds saying that they are not Hawks or Mirko, and that this is the fastest they can go. The pilot asks the passenger to take a seat as it is dangerous and that his body is not yet recovered fully. The passenger disregards these points, saying that lives are being stolen as they speak and not to change the subject at hand.

Back at the ruins of Jaku City, following their interaction in the One For All vestige realm, "Tomura Shigaraki" and Deku are falling from the sky. Shoto, who is still holding Bakugo and Endeavor, catches Deku and brings the three of them to the ground, and is relieved to know that the three of them are still alive. However, before Shoto can administer first aid, the Heroes see "Tomura" in the air with Rivet Stabs protruding from his fingers into the ground, as the voice of All For One tells him to retreat, but "Tomura" retorts saying that he can't make him do anything.

As he finishes his sentence, he is blasted away by Nejire Chan and her Wave Motion, much to the surprise of Endeavor and Shoto. Ingenium runs in shortly afterwards informing the heroes of Gigantomachia's fast approach to Jaku City and that they have also informed the Heroes fighting the Nomu as well. Shoto tells Ingenium to carry Deku and the others to safety as Ingenium sees why they never returned before. Nejire Chan sees the injured Ryukyu and angrily glares at "Tomura", who notices the number of Heroes increasing around him, comparing them to maggots.

Elsewhere, in a building, Uravity prepares to fight Himiko Toga, after throwing her off of her and into another room in the house, while saying that she is stronger than the last time they met. Himiko recovers and also prepares to go toe-to-toe with Uravity, as the Hero thinks how to make direct contact without losing too much blood or wasting too much time. Himiko begins to speak, explaining that when she thinks about someone that she loves, it makes her want to become that person and that her need for the blood of that person becomes so great that it pains her and she can't help it. Himiko and Uravity charge at each other, as Himiko continues to explain that she accepts that this is who she is as a person, but not everyone is like this, which makes it hard for her to live in the society they live in. She proceeds to tell Uravity about her fight with Curious, who told her "you poor thing" about her normal, and attempted to kill her, before she put an end to her using Uravity's blood and Quirk, horrifying Uravity.

Himiko goes on to explain how happy she was when she found out she could use the Quirks of those she loved but is interrupted by Uravity shooting her wires at her. Ochaco is knocked into a wall by Himiko with her needles as she exclaims that she would never be happy about dropping someone to their death and implores Himiko to explain what her reason for talking to her is. Instead, Himiko holds up an All Might keychain that Uravity dropped. Uravity realises what Himiko is holding and charges at her, demanding that she give it back, but Himiko runs off with it asking if it is precious to the Hero, which Uravity confirms that it is.

Himiko says that Twice was precious to her as well and considers the two of them to be the same for liking Deku, who she correctly determined gave Uravity the keychain. Ochaco realises that she is wasting too much time on Himiko, and that if she attacks head-on, she will just dodge the attack, so she attacks at all angles with her new Ultimate Move, Zero Satellites. Himiko realises that Uravity used her Quirk on several household objects when she fell, as she is swung at with them, while Uravity says that those feelings they have should be shut away. Himiko goes on to tell Uravity about how she felt the same way about using her Quirk and draining blood since childhood, but it's not use as the longer she held her feelings in, the bigger they became, as she effortlessly dodges Uravity's attack. Uravity responds saying that if she is going to live as she pleases hurting people, then she must accept responsibility for her actions. Himiko becomes teary-eyed, agreeing with Uravity.

Himiko says goodbye to Uravity as she launches several knives in her direction, only for the attack to be deflected by Froppy. Outnumbered two-to-one, Himiko retreats as the building begins to shake. Froppy says to stand back-to-back so as to avoid an ambush from a blind spot, but Uravity assures her that Himiko has left the building but wonders why she has tears in her eyes. As she runs along the rooftops, Himiko reflects on her interaction with Uravity, expressing disappointment about the ordeal, and makes her way to back to the League, having received her answer.

Back at Jaku City, Shoto uses his ice to try and reach "Tomura", but becomes distracted when Gigantomachia arrives to the battlefield, with All For One commenting on Gigantomachia's timing and how "Tomura" could collapse at any moment, thanks to blows from Deku and Endeavor. He explains that Rivet Stab was extended from the spine, so as to make it auto-tracking to reduce the burden on the rest of his body and now that all he needs to do now is to issue Gigantomachia with the command to retreat with him. Shoto and Nejire Chan continue their assault on "Tomura", with Shoto saying that they're unable to fight both him and Gigantomachia at the same time, so they should focus on the wounded villain in front of them first, as Shoto ignites his fist. All For One comments on the strength of Wave Motion and Half-Cold Half-Hot and how they're not letting "Tomura"'s injured body rest for a single moment, as Nejire Chan and Shoto unleash their new Ultimate Moves, Nejire Flood and Jet Kindling, on "Tomura" at the same time. However, they are swatted away with force by Gigantomachia; something that Ingenium witnesses. Bakugo tells Ingenium to let him go, as he needs to achieve a complete victory.

Gigantomachia holds "Tomura" in his hand as he awaits his master's command as Spinner notices just how injured "Tomura" is. Endeavor makes his way over to Shoto, asking how he is. Shoto says he is fine, as Endeavor internally apologies to Hawks, taking the blame for allowing Gigantomachia to move in the first place, and now he needs to figure what Quirks he has and to defeat him. He notices that one of his lungs has been crushed and wonders how much he can do with a body that hurts even when he breathes. Despite this, he stands up, proclaiming that he must continue to do so, for he is Japan's No. 1 Hero. Dabi, on the back of Gigantomachia, notices Endeavor and Shoto on the ground, with Endeavor calling back to him. Dabi says to not call him by the name of "Dabi", as he has already has a better, more respectable name: Toya.

In Fujitani Hospital, Rei Todoroki is sat in her hospital room watching the news as the broadcast begins to become hijacked and switched to a different broadcast with Dabi sitting on a couch, shirtless, showing his bodily burns to the world. In the broadcast, Dabi identifies himself as "Toya Todoroki", the long-dead son of No. 1 Hero, Endeavor, a fact that shocks Rei. In Jaku City, Dabi's proclomation has stunned Endeavor and Shoto as Dabi says he thought that his family would recognise him, despite having burns across his face. Deku also sees Dabi and thinks back on his conversation with Shoto and Fuyumi Todoroki about their older brother, Toya, and realises that Toya and Dabi are the same person.

Back in Rei's hospital room, Rei watches as Dabi confesses that he is the eldest son of the Todoroki Family and, at the time of recording, has killed over 30 innocent people. He goes on to explain why he committed these acts, saying that Endeavor once yearned for power, so from the despair of not overtaking All Might as No. 1, he figured he needed a child with a stronger Quirk and forced his wife to marry him. Dabi explains that he was created for the sake of his father's "selfish" dream, but was deemed a failure, given up on and abandoned by Endeavor. Dabi continues talking to Endeavor, saying that he has not forgotten and was watching the Todorokis the whole time, all the while saying he should have been the only one to be without fault. He divulges that a pre-recorded message about his past is currently being broadcasted on TVs nationwide, as well as on the internet. Skeptic considers this to be an ace up Dabi's sleeve, while Dabi begins to dance.

Dabi is unsure why, but says he is beginning to have fun, thinking about how he can make his father suffer, and that this is all he could think about for the longest time. He isn't sure why he existed, and clinged to his brother, Natsuo Todoroki, whilst crying every day, asking if this was something Endeavor knew about. He thought about killing Shoto right when he finished his training, but then Endeavor unexpectedly became Japan's No. 1 Hero.

Dabi says that he only ever wanted to make Endeavor happy, and that he was afraid his father would die in Kyushu at the hands of Hood, as well as revealing that he led Starservant and Ending directly to him. He says that even though being No. 1 was his father's dream, it must have been a heavy burden on him. Dabi asks if Endeavor felt relieved by the public's adoration of him and that being closer to his family helped him strengthen family bonds, and that he could only live properly if he looked to the future. Dabi sees Endeavor is clueless, so he tells him that the past never dies, offering him the chance to dance with him in Hell.

Endeavor thinks back to the day Toya died. The day was cold, and the air was dry. He found his son on Sekoto Peak, where they had often trained together in the past, burning to death. He remembered being told the flames reached a temperature of over 2000 degrees Celsius, so nobody was able to be recovered, assuming that his bones turned to ash and were scattered with the wind. The only piece of the body found was a piece of his jaw. He also thinks back to when Toya was young. He thinks about when he noticed Toya's hair turning from red to white, but Toya disregards it, eager to learn an Ultimate Move. He reveals that Toya didn't get his mother's Quirk, Frost, but his firepower was far stronger to his own, and that despite not being able to negate his overheating, Endeavor wanted his son to be raised a Hero.

Endeavor still hoped for a child with a Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk, and Rei believed that having more children could lead to them supporting each other, which resulted in the birth of Fuyumi. However, Fuyumi only inherited Rei's Frost, a fact Endeavor was OK with at the time, as he could place all his ambitions on Toya, who he felt had more potential. Even though Toya's skin started to burn, Endeavor believed he could be the one to achieve his lifelong goal of overtaking All Might as No. 1.

Back in the present, a bewildered Endeavor states that Toya is dead, and that Dabi should take back such a lie. Dabi retorts, saying he is alive and that's the undeniable truth, laughing about how Endeavor never recognised his own son, because of how common fire-type Quirks are. Off to the side, Spinner and Mr. Compress say that they too were unaware of this information, and this is the first time they are hearing it, though Spinner directs his attention to an unconscious "Tomura", trying to wake him so that he can give commands to Gigantomachia. Compress is more attentive to Dabi's newly disclosed information, saying that Dabi also has "an interesting lineage."

Dabi continues to taunt Endeavor saying that he could do a DNA test to confirm the truth, but he doesn't need to as one was already performed and publicized as they speak. The pre-recorded message shows Dabi revealing that he used Endeavor's blood left over from the fight in Kyushu to do a DNA test, and that it is a 99.99% match. He understands the general populace may not believe him, and that the only thing he can do is speak in a way that makes them believe, revealing that Endeavor continued to force his mother to bear children, until Shoto was born; his mission succeeded, yet stating he witnessed Endeavor abusing Shoto too. Dabi continues, claiming that Endeavor is not a man who thinks of others, rather someone consumed with self-importance, and someone like that is unable to be called a "hero."

Hiroshi Tameda, who is watching along with friends, refuses to believe Dabi's words, saying that this won't be enough to shake the trust people have in heroes. Dabi, however, says that the people connected to Endeavor are the same, as he demonstrates by showing a picture of Hawks killing Twice in the Gunga Mountain Villa, claiming Hawks didn't hesitate to kill a man who was fleeing; this horrifies Hiroshi further. Back in Jaku, Skeptic tells Dabi to thank him for editing the video in a rush, which Dabi does as Skeptic's images and videos proved useful. Dabi then tells Endeavor something about Hawks through the pre-recorded message, revealing that for him to gain favor in the League, he killed Best Jeanist while he was recuperating.

He goes on to say that this was natural for Hawks, due to his father being a serial thief and murderer that Endeavor caught, and that this is why Hawks' identity and past remained secret. Dabi yells that he couldn't allow it, yelling that they cover up shady acts by labelling it as "justice," and that Endeavor is tricking people into believing he is a Hero. Dabi warns the public that they are being used as tools by the Heroes for their own selfish needs. Hiroshi's friend tells him that, by Dabi speaking out first, he has won, whether or not it's true is a question for later. He questions how the faith in heroes cannot be shaken by these revelations, even though a Villain is saying them, and that due to the sheer amount of damage already done, anyone's trust not shaken by this are fools. This causes Hiroshi to cry.

In Jaku, Dabi mockingly thanks Endeavor for being alive until today as he leaps from the back of Gigantomachia. Endeavor, still in shock, admits he kept looking for his son, believing he was still alive. Shoto, however, implores his father to protect Deku and Bakugo, while he and Nejire Chan fend off Dabi. Dabi continues his descent upon Endeavor, covered in fire, as he begins to use his father's own Flashfire Fist: Prominence Burn against him. However, Dabi soon finds himself bound in carbon fibres, originating from the sky. He turns to face his opponent, seeing Best Jeanist returning to active duty, as the Hero apologises for the delay.
