Kumara ｢九魔羅, kumara｣ is a Cryptid originally enslaved by Clayman who served as a member of his Five Fingers, and was freed from his curse by Rimuru Tempest and joined Tempest as a result. She is the only subordinate of Rimuru to have received a total of nine Names, in contrast to Ranga whose single name became the name of his entire species. She serves as the Guardian of the 90th floor of the Dungeon and a member of the Twelve Guardian Lords respectively.
Appearance[]
Fox[]
She was originally a small blonde furred fox with three tails when serving under Clayman as one of the Five Fingers, and is able to grow in size during combat. When Rimuru named her, she became a nine-tailed fox.
Humanoid (Named)[]
In humanoid form, she can appear as either a child or an adult female with fox ears. In child form, she appears as a cute girl with bob haircut. In adult form, she has the bewitching form and beauty of a courtesan.
Following her awakening in A Clash of Dragons and Monsters, changes in her appearance include her hair turning gold and eight of her nine tails becoming silver, with the last taking on gold.
Personality[]
She possesses remarkable intelligence, displaying a clever and even devious nature that enabled her to outwit Rimuru, coaxing him into bestowing upon her a name and eight distinct aspects of herself. This cunning maneuver granted her an immense surge of energy. Despite her shrewdness, she remains steadfastly loyal to Rimuru, driven by his acts of kindness.
Described as cold and calculated, she finds it challenging to connect with individuals who are naive and impulsive. Nevertheless, she retains certain childlike qualities, becoming frustrated when faced with situations beyond her complete control. Over time, she develops a deep appreciation for her newfound home and the companionship of her newfound friends—a sense of belonging that had long been absent from her life.
Background[]
Kumara was born as the daughter of the Specter Village Mistress and lived with her in a territory called Specter Village that bordered between the Eastern Empire and the Puppet Nation of Jistav, living peacefully until soldiers of the Eastern Empire, led by Kanzis, attacked and wiped them out, with the young unnamed Kumara being the only survivor. She was later captured and sold to Clayman by Kanzis. Seeing potential in the young Cryptid, Clayman made her one of his Five Fingers, serving as his pet and bodyguard. However in a strange twist of fate, Clayman was defeated and Kumara was picked up by Rimuru Tempest. With her curse removed by Rimuru, she was saved and taken into protection in Tempest.
It was there that she remembered what happiness was, and her emotional wounds were healed through contact with the children. Rimuru later brought her into the Dungeon to help manage the forest there and put her on the 90th floor and also named her Kumara, making her grow all her tails up to nine.
When she asked Rimuru to name some of her friends he could not refuse a little girl. It turned out that her eight friends (Mouse, Tiger, Rabbit, Snake, Sheep, Ape, Bird and Hound) were other parts of her – and they came to be known as the Eight Legions, each beast a Calamity-level threat – giving her a tremendous boost in strength and magical energy when she received eight additional names.
