"If this battle can prove to Sir Rimuru that I can be of aid to him, I am all but guaranteed a lofty role in his hierarchy! I want to see the full extent of your force in action right now, people! Show them what a dragonewt riled is capable of!"

Gabiru to Hiryuu

Gabiruガビル, gabiru is a majin in service to Rimuru Tempest. He works diligently in the research department of the Jura-Tempest Federation with Vesta and plays a major role in the production of Hipokute herbs and potions. He is the captain of the Hiryuu of Tempest, the country's primary aerial attack force and a member of Rimuru's Twelve Guardian Lords.

Appearance[]

Lizardman[]

Gabiru Anime

Gabiru had the appearance of a green anthropomorphic Lizard with two horns. In all adaptations, he wore a wear armor that consists of a cape, baggy pants, and furry neck warmer.

Dragonewt[]

Gabiru Dragonewt 2

Although he didn't look much different from the average lizardmen. Gabiru grew dragon-like wings and noticeably bigger horns and firmer scales. The biggest difference was the color of his scales which changed from greenish-black to purple.

True dragonewt[]

After undergoing Rimuru's Harvest Festival ritual, Gabiru's scales acquired more of a reddish hue and magnificent horns sprouted from his temples.

Personality[]

Gabiru first appears to be a young and overconfident lizardman who is proud to be the first-named warrior in his tribe as he expresses annoyance at his father for not addressing him with it.

Despite this, however, Gabiru holds his father in high regard and sees him as a proud and noble chieftain of the lizardmen and actually inherited quite a few qualities from him. Like Abiru, he is brave, loyal to his followers and kinsmen, as well as a natural leader gaining loyal subordinates who hold him in higher regard than Abiru himself.

Despite his natural talents, however, his ego is swelled and easily manipulated, as both the honest praise from his subordinates as well as Laplace's manipulations, he was led to believe that he had no choice but to take over the tribe from his aging father in order to save the lizardmen.

After he realized he had put his people in jeopardy during the battle with the Orc Lord, and that Gelmud was only using him, Gabiru was humbled and took the full blame for his treason and was willing to accept execution with grace, only pleading to spare his men. He is shown to continue to grow, to become cooler headed, and understand that though he is strong, he still had to work on his immaturity. He has a variety of eccentric quirks but this side of him is very endearing to Rimuru. Over time his ego is all but gone. He has a more open mind, no longer looking down on others, and has become very knightly towards allies and worthy opponents. He is awestruck towards his sister's training. When visited by his father, his father is struck by how much he had changed since his exile.

Background[]

Gabiru was the captain of the lizardmen warriors which resides in the marshes. He was named by Gelmud sometime before the start of the stories. He is seen as a spoiled child, who has a poor sense of superiority over others in his tribe since he is the sole named lizardman. Because he is surrounded by Yes men, his ego is over inflated. Seen as a doofus by Rimuru, but over time seeing him as endearing, if a bit eccentric. His exile and joining of the Federation is the start of his change from a spoiled child to a knightly Dragonewt, he befriends Vesta and works alongside him.
