Humans ｢人間, hyūman｣ are a species with an extremely low tolerance to magicules and a short life span, however their innate capacity for growth, very high reproductive rate and curiosity for knowledge made them Veldanava's race of choice to spread across the cosmos. They were the result of one of Twilight Valentine's many experiments.
Reproduction[]
Human reproduction is sexual and purely physical. It doesn't require magicules for a child to be born. That means they can have as many children as their bodies can handle. Since humans' lifespan is short and birthrate doesn't affect their factor, they usually have a lot of kids.
Characteristics[]
Humans, compared to most other races, are extraordinarily weak but, also unlike other races, they don't become weaker after giving birth. Their innate power is extremely small and they don't gain strength from naming. Their low tolerance towards magicules makes the path of becoming a Mage a long and hard one. Thus, the pathway of Magic is often abandoned by humans who seek to gain power, with them instead focusing on training their Body and learning how to manipulate their Aura to perform Arts in the Battlewill family. The small amount of magicules that humans do have tend to be expended in the acquisition of Skills to supplement them in physical combat. They have an extremely short youth compared to that of other races. Their lifespan not much shorter then lifespan of ogres and Lycanthropes but compared to them humans aging really fast. Barring the process of majinization, magic can only extend their lifespan to around three hundred years.
Evolution[]
There are two mainstream evolutionary paths available to humans, Enlightenment and Majinization. There is a third in the form of awakening the power dormant in ones bloodline and returning to a purer form of their subspecies or even becoming a Fairy, but this is only normally available to certain Demi-human subspecies and only during special circumstances.
Enlightenment only occurs as the result of long and arduous training that ends with the person in question breaking through a mental barrier and becoming a demi-spiritual lifeform, allowing them to think with their Spiritual body and partially sublimating their flesh to a higher existence. Enlightened, even Human ones, enjoy a high tolerance and capacity towards Magicules as well as physical and mental capabilities along with lifespan inconceivable for normal humans.
Majinization occurs due to a mutation brought on by high magicule exposure, magic rituals, or other unique circumstances. Humans who undergo this process have become Majin and are labeled as Demonoids for the sake of convenience. Humans who undergo this process possess a large store of magicules and a long lifespan. Like all Monsters, have a constitution reliant on magicules. Becoming a Majin comes with an innate affinity for casting magic as well as an extremely high tolerance towards magicules and magic, incomparable to that of their previous self. However, by becoming magical beings, they become susceptible to the purifying effects of Holy magic.
Demi-humans[]
Demi-humans ｢亜人族, demi hyūman｣ are the result of cross-breeding and genetic experimentation performed on the human genome by Twilight Valentine. There are a variety of subspecies of humans, with most of them possessing much greater powers and lifespan than their ordinary human cousins. Due to them genetically being human, it is possible for demi-humans to cross-breed with "regular" humans and any other race of demi-human, although the animosity between them makes this a rarity. In particular, the high tolerance to magicules and high aptitude for magic that most demi-human races possess resulted in them being wrongfully called monsters for most of human history, causing them to not be considered part of the human race until the events of Conflict Between Saints and Monsters.
Otherworlders[]
Otherworlders ｢異世界人, isekaijin｣ are the result of a human successfully crossing over to the Central World from another universe. The process involves crossing the gap between dimensions and, if they originate from a purely Material World, having their bodies reconstructed into Demi-Material form. Those who survive the conversion from Material to Demi-Material have their Souls infused with a large amount of magicules as a result. The magicules within their souls almost always manifests itself in one or more skills, with around 75% of such otherworlders going on to develop Unique skills. Due to this, many nations performed illegal summoning rituals in secret, with the dual purpose of obtaining powerful body guards for royalty and upper nobility, as well as hoping for one of the summoned to become a Chosen hero.
