"The owner, Lorana, served me up this cool, creamy drink made with slices of a local fruit as sweet and tart as a fresh citrom. Unlike an actual labyrinth, I could've found my way out of that bar any time I wanted. But I chose to stick around for another glass. And then another."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Cantina Crush was a cool and creamy beverage served at the Labyrinth cantina on the astronomical object Kelada, where the bartender Lorana used slices of local fruit that made the beverage tart and sweet. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs drank the beverage at the Labyrinth during a culinary tour of the galaxy he took between 34 ABY and 35 ABY. After Lorana gave him the recipe, he included it in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook.

Description[]

Cantina Crush was a creamy beverage served cool and made using slices of fruit.[1] The human[2] bartender Lorana used a local fruit for the drink that was as sweet and tart as a citrom when serving the beverage in the Labyrinth, a spaceport cantina on the astronomical object Kelada in the Colonies.[1]

History[]

"When I got to Kelada, I intended to search the local marketplaces for unusual ingredients and new recipe ideas. But plans don't always unfold exactly how you expect. Truth is, I never made it further than the spaceport's cantina, a joint called the Labyrinth."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Cantina Crush was served in the Labyrinth.

During a culinary tour of the galaxy that he took[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[3] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs visited Kelada intending to search for unusual ingredients and new recipe ideas in the local marketplaces; however, he never made it farther than the Labyrinth, as after Lorana served him a Cantina Crush, he continued ordering more until the cantina closed for the day. Tuggs gave the bartender a generous tip when settling the bill, and in return she gave him a napkin with the recipe for Cantina Crush written on it. Tuggs, believing he got the better end of the deal despite how much he had spent, then included the recipe in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook,[1] which was published in 35 ABY.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Cantina Crush was created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the drink makes use of quartered limes, water, granulated sugar, sweetened condensed milk, ice, and additional limes for garnish.[1]

  3. 3.0 3.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
