During the Galactic Civil War in 5 ABY,[2] General Hera Syndulla's New Republic forces aboard the Star Destroyer Deliverance, who had continued their hunt for the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, managed to track the fighter wing and the bulk freighter Yadeez, after the 204th had stopped in the Ghonoath system to permit one of their Raider-class corvettes to refuel. The Yadeez and its escorts dropped into the atmosphere of a radioactive deathworld to slow down the New Republic forces and buy time for the Raider. TIE squadrons were launched and a battle ensued with the New Republic starfighter squadrons. TIE/sa bombers dropped proton bombs without detonator timers to drift like mines in the planet's fierce winds, which managed to destroy two X-wing starfighters. Squadron Four TIE pilot Garl "Snapper" Lykan, known by Alphabet Squadron for his Needle maneuver, was killed by a trio of X-wings that converged on him. The 204th's commanding officer, Colonel Soran Keize found a way out, and so after the TIEs boarded the Yadeez and exited the planet's atmosphere, they jumped to lightspeed, along with the refueling Raider and other escorts. The 204th held a funeral for Lykan shortly after.[1]

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 The events of Victory's Price begin after the Cerberon system campaign, and the novel also features the Battle of Jakku at the end of its three main sections. Since Star Wars: Timelines dates both of those conflicts to 5 ABY, the main events of Victory's Price must therefore be set in that year. Furthermore, the battle in the Ghonoath system must also be set in 5 ABY.
