Community Ambassador Program

We understand that sometimes the issue is not that there is a lack of resources, but instead that there is a gap in the knowledge of and access to resources. The Community Ambassador program provides an opportunity for dedicated community members to learn about important county resources and services. With this knowledge, our ambassadors can give advice to their respective communities, as well as Howard County at large. Ambassadors will have the opportunity to serve as representatives at community events and help constituents navigate resources to find the information they need.

These outreach opportunities include, but are not limited to: Lunar New Year, Hispanic Heritage Festival, Greenfest, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

The Office of the County Executive hosts monthly Community Ambassador sessions that cover each of the topics from the curriculum. As participants complete more sessions and outreach activities, they build up to higher levels in the program.

Please note: Each session is open to the public, so all are welcome to come hear any specific information session on a topic that interests them.

The Community Ambassador Curriculum covers:

  • Safety

  • Housing

  • Human Services

  • Human Rights and Equity

  • Sustainability

  • Aging

  • Education

  • Transportation

  • Health
