The Wanderer is a mysterious evil Lore Character in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was first mentioned in Chapter 5: Season 2 Story Quests' final quest, and was then properly introduced during Chapter 5: Season 3.

He is one of the main antagonists of Chapter 5: Season 3 alongside Megalo Don.

Appearance[]

The Wanderer is a large and tall humanoid entity in a white hood who stalks people from a distance, and is a powerful entity. He doesn't seem to possess a physical form, appearing as dark smoke beneath a white cloak, surrounded by a blue aura that distorts the light, or possibly even the space itself around him. According to Megalo Don, one shouldn't look under his hood "as it would be a sight that insignificant minds would not be able to bear," although he himself has never seen his face.

History[]

Chapter 5: Season 2[]

After Zeus was defeated, The Oracle revealed the prophecy of darkened skies, choking dusts, and that our war has just begun. She reveals that The Wanderer, who seems to be related to an upcoming disaster, draws near but that "hope" would guide us. Zeus, not wanting to give up completely in his fight against mortals, forms a new plan.

Sandstorm Event[]

Sandstorm Unleashed - Sandstorm Event - Fortnite

During The Sandstorm event, Zeus used the Statue at Mount Olympus to strike Pandora's Box three times with lightning to completely fill the orb on the box. On the last strike from The Statue, the Nitro energy broke free from the gem on Pandora's Box, which fled The Island while leaving craters in its path, going far away onto the desert islands to the south of the Helios Island. Then, in a burst of energy a huge sandstorm was created, alongside a big leviathan-themed naval ship that slowly sailing closer to the Island day by day.

Chapter 5: Season 3[]

Arriving alongside the sandstorm, the Wasteland Warriors, led by Megalo Don started to invade the Island, preparing to "raze this Island to the ground once my Leviathan awakes." The Wanderer can be seen among his crew [2] as well as on sprays at Wasteland Warriors' owned locations. Some time later in Update v30.10, several characters claim to feel observed or see a hooded figure in the distance observing them, before disappearing once they try to look at them.

In Story Quests, The Pandora's Gems gave Hope visions of The Wanderer and Megalo Don working together. Hope then told us to be aware of The Wanderer. After all of the Pandora Gem's were reunited by The Looper, Hope and Jones, Megalo Don reveals that he is aware of people watching at the pipeline's progress towards The Leviathan, and reveals that a "wise friend" told him that he would succeed in his plan.

During the season, Megalo Don, with his Mysterious Transmission, warns those who are listening not to bother The Wanderer, as he is a fundamental ally for him. He also told them to not look under his hood, because their puny minds cannot comprehend how he looks. However, he himself has not seen his face, making this statement unreliable, yet mysterious.

Trivia[]

  • In one of the Pandora's Box concept art, a similar hooded figure can be found on it.
  • During Update v30.10, Megalo Don's Mysterious Transmission for The Wanderer was accidentally added early in Portuguese, Italian and other European countries dub.
  • The shapeless body of The Wanderer and his way of observing everything in the shadows is reminiscent of The Shapeless Man, this could imply that the two entity may be one and the same.
  • There's an unfinished sixth part of the Chapter 5: Season 3 Story Quests titled "Beware The Wanderer" which could give more information and insight about the character.

Behavior[]

Wanderer can be found in one of three locations, wandering around the area the entire match while phasing through destructible objects in his way including doors.

When the player gets close to Wanderer, he will vanish from their view. Only reappearing when they are far enough away from him. He is immune to all sources of damage.

History[]

Update v30.20[]

Update v30.30[]

  • Wanderer is now immune to all damage types.

Trivia[]

  • Wanderer's Character Outfit ID is Character_KnishClamp_NPC and his codename is KnishClampNPC.
    • Wanderer is blacklisted from Mystique's Shapeshifter Built-In Emote after June 27th 2024 due to exploits with his Outfit vanishing from other players' view when nearby. Making the Mystique player nearly undetectable.
  • Additional visual smoke and distortion effects are applied on Wanderer in-game. These effects are absent in the Locker.
  • Prior to Update v30.30, though Wanderer couldn't have been damaged via normal means, he could still be harmed and eliminated by detonating Gas Cans and Vehicles in his path, or by slowly taking damage in The Storm.
    • Hired Characters could also aggro Wanderer, causing him to fight back unintentionally.
    • When eliminated, he would drop a Common Pistol.
