Materials (otherwise known as Mats) is the commonly used term to describe the resources and ingredients required for building and crafting. Players can break and or search world objects such as trees, bushes, rocks, houses, containers, chests, toolboxes and more in the world to obtain materials which they can therefore build structures using wood, brick and or metal. Breaking and or searching world resources will give players crafting ingredients which can be used to make Weapons, Traps, and Ammunition in Save the World.

Harvesting items and objects with a Harvesting Tool yields a different amount of World Resources, depending on the object that was destroyed.

Wood[]
Wood is the weakest of the three materials, but the easiest to find. It is commonly found in Forests and Grasslands. Objects that you will want to harvest/search are:
- Trees
- Cacti
- Certain walls of houses
- Certain furniture
- Boxes
- Wood pallets
- Wood barricades
- Bushes
Fully harvesting the objects above often grants Planks and Twine crafting resources. Adhesive Resin can also be obtained. However, harvesting Boxes, Wood barricades, or Wood pallets will not grant any crafting resources.
Wood Weaknesses[]
- Structures that are made of wood are the weakest of the three building materials.
- Structures that are made of wood are weak against Fire elemental Monsters.
Stone[]
Stone is the second strongest of the three building materials. Stone can most commonly be located in Grasslands, Forests, Thunder Route 99, Desert and or the Ghost Town. Objects that you will want to harvest/search in are:
- Rocks/boulders
- Caves
- Houses made of stone
Fully harvesting the objects above often grants Ore and Mineral Powder crafting resources. Harvesting stone walls do not grant crafting resources.
Stones Weakness[]
- Structures that are made of stone are weak against Water elemental Monsters.
Metal[]
Metal is the strongest of the three building materials but the hardest material to harvest. Metal can most commonly be located in The Industrial Park. Objects that you will want to harvest/search are:
- Cars/Semi-Trucks
- Shipping crates
- Metal roofs and walls
- Pipes
- Workshops
- Transformers
Fully harvesting the objects above often grants Nuts 'n' Bolts and Mechanical Parts crafting resources. Batteries can also be obtained. Harvesting Pipes, Metal roofs and walls, and Pipes do not grant crafting resources.
Metals Weakness[]
- Structures that are made of metal are weak against Nature elemental Monsters.
- Structures that are made of metal during a Metal Corrosive storm will be weak to all Monsters.

Trivia[]
- Stone is the only building material of the total three world resources that have a chance of a garden gnome spawning inside of a wall.
- Due to a glitch during the first initial release of Challenge the Horde, players experienced their personal Storage being completely wiped. As compensation, Epic Games replenished what was lost to players Storage and added what is now known as tier 6 crafting materials into the game accidentally during this process.
- These tier 6 crafting materials were added in Fortnite: Creative in Update v19.40 and is considered de facto Creative exclusive.
