Gerik Benoit, better known as Gery or "The Axemen" is an original character and an antagonist in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution. He serves as the secondary antagonist of Retribution.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

According to May's notes, May and Gerik met when they were very young, with May not even remembering a time before they met. Gerik worked as a bomb disposal unit and at some point had Ambre with May.

Post Apocalypse[]

New Orleans, Louisiana[]

Before Saints and Sinners began, Gerik and May were with the tower, but at some point decided to leave, with May keeping the reserve key so that they can get the reserve supplies. Although he was never mentioned in Saints and Sinners, its been implied that Gerik was with May throughout the entire game, and knew that the Tourist was working with her. After the events of Saints and Sinners, Gerik never saw May again, and assumed that the Tourist likely killed her. After that Gerik became somewhat well known throughout new orleans, catching the attention of Whistles, Sonny, and Desiree. He would go out killing people who wronged him for one reason or another, and leave a note next to their corpse of what they did. Eventually, Gerik knew that the Tourist was working with the Pawn King, and so he threatened Sonny and Desiree to get them to send the Tourist to Hotel E'clair to meet him. Upon meeting the Tourist, he tells them that he knows that they knew May, and believes that they killed her. he says that he will let the Tourist go for now, but will haunt them until he is done toying with them, and ends their life. Gerik then blows open a hole in the wall, setting The Tourist free. Later, Gerik finds maxwell and ties him to a chair, with bombs around him, leaving a not that says "You shattered my family to serve yourself. demolished by your devices. From this burden, we are freed." the Tourist actally managed to find Maxwell before the bomb went off, but couldn't do anything to stop it, and Maxwell dies. After that point, Gerik started crossing off the people on his kill list, and intended to kill Sonny and the Tourist next, (assuming if Sonny's word is true) and Gerik then runs into an ambush of tower soldiers in the sewers. He easily takes out most of the soldiers, before the Tourist shows up and Gerik sees them. Gerik assumes that the Tourist is working with the tower, then tells the Tourist how pathetic he thinks they are to rely on the tower like that, before killing a few more soldiers and leaving, with the Tourist following closely behind. Gerik then made his way to a large warehouse, which is presumably what hes been using as his hideout, killing a few more people along the way. Upon seeing the Tourist arrive in his warehouse, Gerik says on the main speaker that he is disappointed in the Tourist for being with the tower, and he will now kill them, and after he's done, the tower will be next. The battle begins, and Gerik starts chasing the Tourist, throwing explosives at them and trying to attack with his axe. If the Tourist tries to shoot Gerik with their grenade launcher, they will find it has little effect on Gerik, doing no damage and only stunning him momentarily as he laughs at the Tourist. Instead, the Tourist quickly crafts and assembles some "Mega Bombs" which are the same kind that Gerik used to kill Maxwell earlier. The Tourist places the bombs down and shoots them when Gerik gets close, inflicting harm on him. After the third bomb, Gerik falls to his knees from the injuries with his armor damaged. Gerik then apologizes to his wife and daughter for not being able to avenge them and bring their killer to justice, and even if the Tourist tells Gerik that they didn't kill May, Gerik will say that it does not matter, as he was beaten by a gutless tower lackey. He then asks that the Tourist finishes him off so that he may finally have peace. At this point the Tourist has a choice to either kill Gerik, or simply leave him.
