- "Really? You're going to shoot me over some boxes of root-squash my mom wanted me to bring in from the mountains? Must be a slow day. Anyway, now you know about my mom's favorite vegetable. Move it."
- ―Gavi lying to two Nihil
Root-squash was a type of vegetable that could be found on the Outer Rim planet Valo.[1] In 229 BBY,[2] the human Jedi youngling Gavi disguised himself as the Nihil recruit Driggit Parse and drove the Parse family's treadtruck toward Lonisa City with his crew hiding in the truckbed. When two Nihil marauders stopped the vehicle, the youngling lied that the treadtruck contained boxes of root-squash brought in from Valo's mountains for Missus Parse and insisted the pair leave him alone. Though the Nihil continued to demand he remove the treadtruck's tarp, Parse herself arrived and claimed that Gavi was her cousin "Trank Varado," a grocer, and the marauders eventually left.[1]
