The New Republic Era,[17] also known as the era of the New Republic,[11] the age of the New Republic,[18] the post-Imperial era,[19] the Age of the Resistance,[20] or the Era of the Resistance,[21] was the period of time that immediately followed the Imperial Era. It was marked by the restoration of the Old Republic as the democratic New Republic, which was gradually established after the defeat of the fascist Galactic Empire at Endor.[22] A galactic recession that heavily impacted[18] the economy, including fuel prices,[23] and the bounty hunting trade was underway around 9 ABY.[18]
Although the period was mostly an era of peace, the government's lack of vigilance ultimately led to political fragmentation, which in turn permitted the Rise of the First Order.[4]
