392 BBY, or 392[1] Before the Battle of Yavin, was a year in the 'ABY-BBY' dating system[7] that was a part of the High Republic Era. That year, the Galactic Republic began sponsoring missions by Pathfinder teams made up of Jedi and Republic Pathfinders to chart new safe hyperspace routes[1] in the Outer Rim Territories, helping the Jedi expand their knowledge and spreading the influence of the Republic.[2] Also around that year,[3] the Quarren Republic leader Orlen Mollo negotiated a territory dispute on the planet Mon Cala.[8]
Behind the scenes[]
392 BBY was introduced via indirect mention of an event that had occurred a decade prior to the events of the 2022 novel Convergence, written by Zoraida Córdova as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II.[8] The year was directly referred to as "392 BBY" in the reference book Star Wars: Timelines,[2] first published during Celebration Europe,[9] which took place April 7 through 10, 2023.[10] Prior to the book's release, the page mentioning 392 BBY was included in a March 8 installment of Star Wars: The High Republic Show.[11]
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, 392 BBY was indirectly referenced in The DarkStryder Campaign,[12] which takes place in 8 ABY[13] and mentions an event that took place four centuries prior.[12]

- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of The High Republic: Convergence to 382 BBY. As the territory dispute on Mon Cala took place around ten years prior to the events of Convergence, it must have occurred around 392 BBY.
- ↑ Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious dates the assassination attempt on Padmé Amidala on Coruscant and the carbon-freezing of Han Solo—events that Star Wars: Timelines places in the years 22 BBY and 3 ABY of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system, respectively—to 7955.442.1 and 7980.421.2 in the Coruscant reckoning calendar, therefore establishing a difference of approximately 7,977 years between the two dating systems.
- ↑ Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide places the founding of the Galactic Empire in the year 3258 LY of the Lothal Calendar. Star Wars: Timelines dates the proclamation of the New Order to 19 BBY, placing the zero point—the Battle of Yavin—of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system around 3277 LY and therefore establishing a difference of approximately 3,277 years between the two dating systems.
- ↑ Per Star Wars: The Rebel Files, a calendar existed during the reign of the Galactic Empire the zero point of which was the Empire's founding.
