LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation is a LEGO animated special that released on Disney+ on August 5, 2022.[2]

Official description[]

Finn has arranged a surprise vacation for his friends aboard the Galactic Starcruiser, The Halcyon! But Finn's plans quickly go awry when he's separated from the group. Alone on board the Halcyon, Finn encounters three Force Spirits -- Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Princess Leia, who each share their own unexpected stories of vacations gone wrong.

Plot summary[]

Summer vacation begins[]

At the start, Finn, Poe, Rey and Rose, along with Chewbacca and the droids R2-D2, C-3PO, and BB-8, are onboard a transport. Finn seems nervous about what is to come, although he is still excited. They arrive at the Halcyon, a Corellian MPO-1400 Purgill-class star cruiser and part of the Chandrila Star Line. The group are welcomed by a holovid of Lando Calrissian, who has recently been appointed as the ambassador. Finn is enthusiastic about seeing Lando, but Rose reminds him that it is just a holovid.

Finn excitedly mentions that there will not be any threats of danger. However, Poe and Rose are doubtful, with Rose questioning if heroes can even take vacations. Finn changes the conversation and points out that there are lots of activities to do. Poe takes the datapad and begins to plan a full itinerary of experiences.

Rose reminds Poe that it is a vacation and asks when they will be able to relax. Poe says they can schedule time to rest in-between shuffleboard and the engineering room experience. Rose is particularly unamused by the last suggestion, but Finn believes that Poe has the right spirit. He then gives Rey a sunhat and sunglasses and says she can catch some rays. Rey takes a beverage from the top of a Gonk Droid, and Rose does the same. BB-8 is told there is even a spa, and C-3PO interrupts by saying there will be oil baths for everyone. He dons a holiday sweater and adorns R2-D2 with one as well.

Still excited, Finn believes this will be the last time they are all together. Nobody takes notice, seemingly enjoying tasting the beverages and reading the list of activities on offer. He says he will go and check in, whilst Poe warns everyone of falling behind schedule. Rey leaves to go to the sun deck. When Finn returns with information on their rooms, he is saddened as everyone has vacated the atrium. In the holovid, Lando reminds passengers that they are about to go on a vacation unlike any they have experienced. The Halcyon then departs Chandrila and enters hyperspace.

Finn sits alone[]

Now alone, Finn retreats sadly to the sublight lounge. He is greeted by the droid BV-RJ who specialises in human-cyborg libations. BV-RJ asks Finn if he would like a drink, and he replies by asking if he can suggest a beverage for someone whose friends have ditched him. BV-RJ offers him the Yeruda poison spitter drop.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's Force spirit appears, reassuring him that vacations rarely go to plan. Finn believes that the drink has impacted his perception of reality. Excited to see the famous Jedi Master, Finn lists numerous battles during The Clone Wars, of which he considers himself an expert. He mentions that Rey once told him that past Jedi might appear to guide others when they are in need. Obi-Wan says that Finn is the Jedi in need of counsel. After such an answer, Finn began to worry about a new galaxy-level danger, like "another Death Star," "the Second Order" (probably restored First Order) or "The Emperor returning again again", but Obi-Wan assured him that there was no danger. Finn then complains that the vacation is not going well, and Obi-Wan says they are all still enjoying themselves, and Finn must learn to do the same. Obi-Wan says that he took one on Tatooine from a certain point of view.

Jabba's Annual Birthday Barbeque[]

Obi-Wan's flashback begins at Chalmun's Spacesport Cantina. A hooded figure, Obi-Wan Kenobi, walks in. He drinks a caf offered by Chalmun, only for Colvett Valeria to crash into him. Imperial stormtroopers are hunting her. She tells them she is on vacation with her husband, Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan plays along and does a Jedi mind trick on the stormtroopers. Obi-Wan offers to help with Colvett's spy mission.

It turns out that Colvett was transporting a shipment of coaxium but was interrupted in Hutt space. Jabba the Hutt is now selling the Coaxium back to the Empire, and the pair plan to steal it back.

They enter Jabba's birthday party, and Obi-Wan is told to blend in, with which he struggles. Colvett locates the coaxium and asks Obi-Wan to cause a diversion. Obi-Wan sings a song called 'Gamorrean Girls' and begins a dance party with Max Rebo and Sy Snootles.

Colvett Valeria manages to sneak to the coaxium and begins to take it. Obi-Wan lures those near the coaxium to the dance floor. Colvett has trouble getting Obi-Wan away from the dance floor and accidentally uncovers the Coaxium that Colvett was hiding beneath a dress.

The duo manage to escape, and Obi-Wan uses his lightsaber to deflect blaster fire from the Stormtroopers. They are chased by Boba Fett in his Slave I but manage to get away.

Colvett asks Obi-Wan if he wants to help him with the rebellion. A teenage Luke Skywalker appears, excited to go to Beggar's Canyon. Obi-Wan looks at him and says that he has duties on Tatooine.

Arrival on Scarif[]

Back on the Halcyon, Obi-Wan advises Finn to have fun at the moment, and he goes to find Rey in the climate simulator, only for her to be asleep. The Halcyon approaches Scarif, and the droids who have just left the Spa find him. Rose and Chewbacca run over, having ditched Poe because of his non-stop itinerary. Poe enters with a plate piled high with food. Rose accidentally shoves Finn into a transport leaving for Scarif.

Upon arrival, Finn tries to enjoy himself alone on the beach, only for the Force spirit of Anakin Skywalker to appear. Anakin tells Finn of a time when he took a vacation with Emperor Palpatine during his time as Darth Vader.

Evil takes a Vacation[]

Citizens of Coruscant are celebrating Empire Day, but Palpatine is not having fun. He finds his days are monotonous and dull. He wishes to leave his job behind, and Vader decides he needs a vacation on Scarif. However, Palpatine still finds Scarif boring until they find a party held by a band called Vic Vankoh and the bith boys. They play the song 'Scarif Beach Party.'

Palpatine isn't amused and wants to leave. However, Vic Vankoh mentions that there will be a competition to determine the ruler of the beach. This interests the Emperor, and he and Vader begin participating in the games. They use their Force-powers to gain an advantage over competitors and win every activity.

Although Palpatine and Vader win the award, Vik Vankoh has participation trophies for everyone. This angers Palpatine, who electrocutes the beach and decides that since he loves his job, every day is a vacation. Palpatine tells Vader to build an imperial base on Scarif.

Back in the present day, Anakin tells Finn to find his bliss.

Returning to the Halcyon[]

Finn returns and sees people reuniting, but his friends are nowhere to be seen. He says that he regrets this trip. Leia Organa appears to him and tells him that everyone needs to get away and have a vacation sometimes.

One Last Organa-Solo Vacation[]

Han Solo and Leia Organa have taken their son, Ben Solo, on one final trip before they take him to be trained as a Jedi with Luke. They take him to Mimban, where he first met Chewbacca. Unimpressed, Ben tells his father that he was expecting something more exciting. Leia reminds Han that Ben wants his own adventures now, and they take him to a new resort on Endor. However, the resort is derelict. Ben is still unsure and wants to go to Luke's already. They are greeted by Wick Cooper, who is thrilled to have such famous guests.

Ben finds Wick Cooper's daughter, Sidero, and he has a crush on her. Sidero plans to meet her friend Mahlnor at the snack bar, and her father tells her to take Ben, and she agrees. Wick Cooper leads Han and Leia to the reception.

As Mahlnor and Sidero ask Ben what life is like with famous parents, a Cerean show-off named Rad joins them and belittles Ben for being short. Ben lies and says he has often flown the Millennium Falcon and tries to prove it. Rad starts up the Falcon and begins flying around the Endorian skies.

Back in the woods, Han and Leia are worried about the lack of Ewoks. Wick Cooper refers to them as vicious little monsters only to fall into an Ewok trap. The ewoks emerge and celebrate being reunited with Han and Leia. Wick admits he had an ulterior motive for bringing them into the woods as he was not getting along with the Ewoks.

Meanwhile, the Millennium Falcon is out of control, and the group are panicking. After repairing the relationship between Wick Cooper and the Ewoks, Leia senses that Ben is in trouble. Leia reminds Han that it is time to let go of their son and let him grow up, and Han teaches Ben how to fly the Falcon to safety. Han tells Ben that he did a great job.

After the escapades on Endor, Han and Leia remind Ben that they love him and will miss him. The family says goodbye, and Ben runs off to join his Uncle at the Jedi academy.

Learning to Let Go[]

Finn realises that he has been scared of change all along and doesn't know if he can say goodbye. Leia realises that this trip has not just been difficult for Finn but everyone and that none of the friends is ready to say goodbye. The rest of the group rush into the atrium and tell Finn they've been looking for him. They all apologise for not sticking together as a group. Finn reassures them that it's okay, and he reminisces about the first time he met each of his friends.

The friends all share a group hug as all the Force spirits from throughout the episode appear. In the holovid, Lando hopes that all the passengers are enjoying their time aboard the Halcyon. He says that although every trip must eventually end, the memories will not. Lando thanks the viewer for joining them and hopes the Force will be with them.

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation
  2. 2.0 2.1 StarWars SWCA 2022: 7 Things We Learned from the Summer of LEGO Star Wars Panel on StarWars.com (backup link)
  3. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary dates the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker one year after the Starkiller Incident, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas places in 34 ABY. Therefore Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, which LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation takes place some time after, takes place in 35 ABY.
  4. Obi-Wan Kenobi's flashback takes place during Kenobi's exile on Tatooine, but he is visibly older than his appearance in Star Wars LINE Webtoon: Chapter 2—"Meeting the Droids." Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition states that Luke Skywalker was twelve years old in the Webtoon chapter, and since he was born during Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas places in 19 BBY, he was twelve in 7 BBY. As Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith also depicts Kenobi going to Tatooine, this is the earliest the flashback can take place. Therefore, it takes place between 19 BBY and 7 BBY.
  5. Anakin Skywalker's flashback takes place on Empire Day, which takes is on the anniversary of the formation of the Galactic Empire. Therefore it takes place at least a year after the Empire formed, an event that Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 19 BBY, meaning that it takes place in 18 BBY at the earliest. It also takes place prior to the construction of the Imperial Center of Military Research on Scarif, which appears in Darth Vader Annual 2, which Star Wars: Timelines also dates to 18 BBY. This means that Anakin Skywalker's flashback takes place on the first anniversary of Empire Day, in 18 BBY, prior to the events of Darth Vader Annual 2.
  6. According to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, Luke Skywalker began training his nephew Ben Solo 19 years before the Hosnian Cataclysm. Since Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the Hosnian Cataclysm to 34 ABY, Solo's Jedi training began in 15 ABY. Therefore, since Leia Organa's story from LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation features Han and Leia dropping Ben off at the Jedi Temple of Luke Skywalker, it can be deduced that the story takes place in 15 ABY.
