The Calrissian family, also known as the Calrissians,[8] was the family of Landonis Balthazar Calrissian, the human smuggler who became a general in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War.[6] Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine considered the lives of the Calrissian family to be a tragic story during the Galactic Civil War.[8]

The family consisted of Landonis Balthazar Calrissian, his father and mother,[1] and his daughter Kadara Calrissian.[13]

Behind the scenes[]

The Calrissian family first appeared through Landonis Balthazar Calrissian in the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, the second installment of the Star Wars original trilogy.[3]

The first attempt to expand on Lando Calrissian's family was during development of the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace in the form of Lando's father, who was to be named "Grando Calrissian" and slated to be portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson. However, the character was scrapped when Jackson instead opted to sign to play Jedi Master Mace Windu for the prequel trilogy.[14]

An early version of the script from the 2018 Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story had Korso as the older brother of Lando Calrissian.[15]

Korso was in every draft of the script (including an early version where he was Lando's big brother) and every cut of the movie 'til just before lock when he was removed to simplify." (backup link)
