R2-D2 and R3-S6, both of whom were R-series droids
R-series was a line of astromech droids[1] manufactured by Industrial Automaton,[2] including the popular R2 series droids, such as R2-D2.[3] R-series models continued to see use during the days of the Cold War even though some of its models had been operating for almost a century at that point.[4]
