Drednoks

Drednoks storming the Protostar

Drednoks were sentient artificial lifeforms created by the Vau N'Akat during the 25th century.

History[]

The Vau N'Akat Lorekeeper was a white Drednok who was described as being barely more than a library with legs. (PRO: "Into the Breach, Part II")

Vau N'Akat civil war

Drednoks fighting in the Vau N'Akat civil war

Many Drednoks were used and destroyed during the Vau N'Akat civil war. (PRO: "Preludes")

When the USS Protostar emerged over Solum from an unstable wormhole in the 25th century, a squad of Drednoks forced their way aboard and captured it and its crew.

After the Protostar was lost in the past, the Order sent one hundred Drednoks to accompany their one hundred soldiers in pursuit, although only two made it through with their Drednoks. (PRO: "Preludes") One was destroyed by the Unwanted (PRO: "A Moral Star, Part 2") while the other one was later destroyed by Murf. (PRO: "Ouroboros, Part I")

The Diviner was able to use the vehicle replicator on the Protostar to create a copy of his Drednok. However, this Drednok was destroyed by Gwyndala and after the ship's destruction because of a temporal anomaly was averted, he was left only partially constructed. Nevertheless, the Diviner was able to use Drednok to send a message to the Protostar's crew. (PRO: "Time Amok", "A Moral Star, Part 1")

A Drednok was in command of the Rev-1 when it attempted to destroy the USS Voyager-A and the Protostar using Asencia's new temporal weaponry. This Drednok was destroyed along with his ship by Nova Squadron. (PRO: "Ascension, Part I", "Ascension, Part II")

While on a rescue mission for the young Protostar crew, The Doctor fooled a Drednok on a ship in orbit into letting him, Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway, Captain Chakotay, and Wesley Crusher pass by modulating his voice so that The Doctor sounded like another Drednok. (PRO: "Touch of Grey")

Several Drednoks under the command of Asencia took part in the Battle of Solum in 2384 but Ilthuran, the younger version of the Diviner from this timeline, held them back. (PRO: "Ouroboros, Part I")

Technical data[]

Drednok

A Drednok in combat form

Drednoks normally had a humanoid form with elongated arms and legs. There were two retractable tentacles attached to their backs that ended in manipulator claws similar to those found on the Watchers. A holographic projector was incorporated into the left palm. They could transform to disguise themselves as common objects, such as a table, or into a spacecraft capable of transporting a single person. They were impervious to type 2 phaser fire. They are also programmed for the translation of other languages.

In combat, Drednoks shifted into a four-legged form that allowed them to run extremely quickly, climb sheer surfaces, and leap long distances. They could transform one or both of their arms to form a large phaser cannon powerful enough to threaten a starship. When firing at full power, Drednoks needed to anchor themselves to the ground with their dorsal tentacles. (PRO: "Lost and Found", "Preludes", "Supernova, Part 1")
