Dred 2, or Drednok, was an artificial lifeform remotely created by the vehicle replicator aboard the USS Protostar by The Diviner in 2383. It was a near-duplicate of The Diviner's previous construct, Drednok, and included the original's complete memory.
After his construction, Dred 2 went to the bridge, where he deleted Hologram Janeway and was attacked by Gwyn. Thereafter, he found the dilithium coupler required to finalize the assembly of the warp matrix, before he was blown out the airlock in main engineering by Gwyn.
Later, a partial Dred 2 laid unfinished near the vehicle replicator when it activated once again. (PRO: "Time Amok")
The unfinished Drednok, whom Dal R'El dubbed "Nok-head", was taken to the ship's bunk room, where its presence made the crew aware that they could not let their guard down. While leaning on the body, Dal knocked the body over, causing the head to detach and roll across the floor. In the process, Drednok's eyes activated, and projected a prerecorded holographic image of The Diviner delivering the message "come back to me." Jankom Pog reacted by describing it as a "haunted head". After The Diviner's ultimatum was issued, Gwyn struck the head with her heirloom, rendering it inactive. (PRO: "A Moral Star, Part 1")
This Drednok was voiced by Jimmi Simpson, and credited as "Dred 2", though he was still called "Dreadnok" in the episode's dialogue. Robert Beltran provided Dred 2 's voice when he was mimicking Chakotay's voice for his authorization code.
