Marnia Un'la'na was a Twi'lek ace pilot who worked as a First Order informant. In 34 ABY, she traveled to the supertanker fuel depot Colossus to participate in the All Aces Battle Royale race. While aboard, Un'la'na met with a First Order Ugnaught contact and discussed her mission of transmitting a large data cache to Major Elrik Vonreg.

During the event, Un'la'na attempted to send the intel, intending to use the race's heavy comm traffic to disguise her actions. However, the Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono intercepted the Twi'lek's transmission and forwarded it to his Resistance superiors, Poe Dameron and Leia Organa.

Biography[]

Operating as an informant[]

The Twi'lek ace pilot Marnia Un'la'na worked as an informant for the First Order. She participated in the All Aces Battle Royale race at some point during her career but did not win the event. While working with the First Order, she maintained contact with a Ugnaught also working for them. At some point, the Resistance operative Poe Dameron learned of Un'la'na's occupation as an informant.^[1] In 34 ABY,^[2] Dameron told the Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono, who was operating aboard the supertanker fuel depot Colossus, to contact him if he ever saw Un'la'na aboard.^[1]

Later that year,^[2] Un'la'na traveled to the Colossus to participate in the All Aces Battle Royale and visited the Aunt Z's Tavern establishment while aboard. Xiono noticed her arrival and decided to spy on her with the Resistance astromech droid BB-8. Not long after, Un'la'na met with her Ugnaught contact to discuss her next First Order assignment, which was to transmit a large data cache to Major^[1] Elrik Vonreg^[3] during the All Aces Battle Royale, relying on the event's heavy comm traffic to hide the transmission. She was annoyed with the Ugnaught for contacting her and jeopardizing the initiative, reiterating that she would get the job done.^[1]

Having overheard the pair's encounter, Xiono rushed to inform Dameron of Un'la'na's plans. Dameron instructed him to participate in the All Aces Battle Royale and fly closer to the Twi'lek's racer to intercept her transmission. After stealing the backup racer of a pilot from the planet Hosnian Prime, Xiono entered the race under the pseudonym "Bolt-Shatterer-K."^[1]

All Aces Battle Royale[]

Following the announcer^[1] Jak Sivrak's^[4] command to begin the race, Un'la'na quickly pulled ahead to the front of the racers. Although Xiono initially fell behind her, he insisted to BB-8 that they needed to catch up to the Twi'lek before she started her transmission. Eventually, the Resistance spy flew in range of Un'la'na's ship and instructed BB-8 to activate their encryption recorder to capture her message. However, when^[1] ace pilot Hype Fazon's racer—the Green Ace^[3]—hit his ship, Xiono's vessel briefly fell out of range of Un'la'na's racer. Despite the damage to the spy's racer, his encryption recorder managed to capture the Twi'lek's transmission.^[1]

Un'la'na continued to pull ahead in the race, and Sivrak announced her progress to the race's spectators. She noticed Xiono gaining on her and did her best to lose him on the racecourse, to the spy's dismay. As the race continued, Sivrak announced when Un'la'na had officially pulled ahead into the leading position. Un'la'na kept pulling ahead and won the race and its prize, setting a new speed record for the course.^[1]

As soon as Xiono's device had captured her entire transmission, he crash-landed his damaged ship onto a landing pad. The spy discovered that the encryption recorder he had used to gather the information had been destroyed in the race but recovered the data from a backup shortly afterward and delivered it to Dameron, who decoded the information with Resistance General Leia Organa.^[1]

Personality and traits[]

Marnia Un'la'na was willing to engage in risky subterfuge to send information to the First Order and became annoyed when one of her colleagues suggested that she could not complete her mission. While confident in her abilities, she also felt unneeded communication about the mission could potentially jeopardize it. Un'la'na was a Twi'lek with orange skin and blue eyes.^[1]

Skills and abilities[]

Un'la'na was an experienced ace pilot whom Xiono regarded as famous for her skills. Though the informant successfully completed several initiatives for the First Order, one of her missions was eventually thwarted by Xiono during the All Aces Battle Royale.^[1]

Equipment[]

While aboard the Colossus, Un'la'na wore a light-blue jumpsuit that featured yellow detailing on the sleeves and near the collar. She paired the outfit with a yellow headband, yellow gloves, a dark gray belt, and dark gray boots. During the All Aces Battle Royale, she donned a light-blue flight helmet with a tinted visor. As a pilot, Un'la'na owned a purple starship that was well-suited for high-stakes racing. The vessel also featured the ability to transmit large caches of encrypted data.^[1]

Marnia Un'la'na was created for "All Aces Battle Royale," a comic story written by Kevin Burke and Chris "Doc" Wyatt and illustrated by Valentina Pinto. The story was published by IDW Publishing in the sixteenth issue of the 2017 Star Wars Adventures comic series,^[1] which was released on December 19, 2018.^[5]
