"Yes, we're locked! I knew you could do it, Beebee-Ate! Now I've just got to keep this thing airborne long enough to get all of the data she's trying to transmit."
―Kazuda Xiono to BB-8, while locking onto Marnia Un'la'na's racer's transmission[1]

The ace pilot and First Order informant Marnia Un'la'na owned a racer she used to participate in races. In 34 ABY, she brought the vessel to the supertanker fuel depot Colossus for the All Aces Battle Royale competition. During the race, Un'la'na attempted to transmit an encrypted data cache from her racer to the First Order while competing to remain ahead of the others in the event. Although the Twi'lek won the All Aces Battle Royale, another of the event's participants, the Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono, used an encryption recorder to intercept the data she had sent from her racer and sent it to the Resistance.

Description[]

The Twi'lek ace pilot and First Order informant Marnia Un'la'na owned a racer equipped with two engines and a communications system capable of transmitting encrypted data caches. The ship featured a light purple hull with darker purple accent panels and a gray cockpit. Inside the vessel, the racer had a gray pilot's seat and a seatbelt.[1]

History[]

"With that much data traffic, Marnia's encrypted transmission won't be noticed."
"She's going to transmit it during the race!"
"Whatever she's sending, it must be important. And that means it'll be real bad news if the First Order gets their hands on it."
―Poe Dameron and Kazuda Xiono, about Marnia Un'la'na's plans to transmit from her racer[1]

Marnia Un'la'na in her racer

While operating as a First Order informant, Un'la'na used her ship to participate in several racing competitions and gained fame throughout the galaxy.[1] In 34 ABY,[2] she brought her racer to the supertanker fuel depot Colossus to participate in the All Aces Battle Royale race. While on the platform, Un'la'na intended to use her ship to transmit a large data cache to First Order Major[1] Elrik Vonreg[3] during the competition and use the event's comm traffic as a cover. The Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono noticed her arrival and spied on the Twi'lek with the astromech droid BB-8, learning the details of her mission for the First Order. Xiono reported the information to the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, who told him that Un'la'na would likely use her racer to hide her encrypted transmission during the upcoming race. Dameron instructed Xiono to participate in the competition and fly closer to the Twi'lek's ship to intercept her data cache.[1]

Marnia Un'la'na piloted her racer during the All Aces Battle Royale.

After stealing a racer, Xiono entered the race under the pseudonym "Bolt-Shatterer-K." Following the announcer[1] Jak Sivrak's[4] command to begin the race, Un'la'na quickly pulled ahead to the front of the competitors in her racer. Although Xiono initially fell behind her vessel, the Resistance spy eventually flew close to Un'la'na's ship and told BB-8 to activate their Republic encryption recorder to capture her message. However, when[1] ace pilot Hype Fazon's craft—the Green Ace[3]—hit his racer, Xiono's vessel briefly fell out of range of Un'la'na's ship. Despite the damage to Xiono's borrowed ship, his encryption recorder managed to capture the transmission sent from the Twi'lek's vessel.[1]

Un'la'na's racer continued pulling ahead in the race, and Sivrak announced her progress to the event's spectators. She noticed Xiono gaining on her and did her best to lose him on the racecourse, much to the spy's dismay. As the race continued, Sivrak announced when Un'la'na had officially pulled ahead into the leading position and eventually when she won the race with a new speed record. After the encryption recorder captured Un'la'na's ship's transmission, Xiono ceased pursuing her vessel and crash-landed his damaged ship onto a landing pad. Shortly afterward, he delivered the data from the Twi'lek's ship to Dameron, who decoded the information with Resistance general Leia Organa.[1]
