"Besides, do you really think it's safer to leave me on a Nihil ship?"
"Right now, this is the safest place in the galaxy for you to be. No one's going to attack this ship in the middle of Nihil space. The only planets nearby are small backwater places with no strong military presence."
―Zyle Keem and Tanana Keem, on the cruiser[1]

The Nihil I'nah captained a cruiser after commandeering the vessel from the Galactic Republic, patrolling the Nihil's Stormwall hyperspace barrier with her crew. During a meeting in the cruiser's briefing room in 229 BBY, I'nah argued with the Nihil scientist Niv Drendow Apruk about traveling to the Outer Rim planet Valo to gather valuable experiment materials. The aspiring pirate Zyle Keem—who had eavesdropped on the meeting—stole an escape shuttle from the vessel and traveled to Valo to seek materials to loot.

Description[]

The cruiser could fit a crew of around fifty individuals, featuring a large, metal-decked hangar with room for several ships. It was equipped with engines, a navigation system, several Nihil escape shuttles, and a Path engine hyperdrive unit. The interior of the cruiser had an armory, a storeroom, and a galley. Its briefing room featured an antechamber and a table and was connected to at least one vent. The ship's main hangar, which was protected by a locked door, was on the same level that held its escape pods. After being commandeered by Nihil marauders, the ship's interior took on a scuffed appearance. At least one of its corridors was splattered with blue paint, its bulkheads were dented, and a viscous liquid dripped from some exposed pipes.[1]

History[]

"Are you threatening me, I'nah?"
"If it makes you feel better, yes. You're not taking my ship anywhere. Put a hand on the steering console and lose it."
―I'nah and Niv Dendrow Apruk, in the cruiser's briefing room[1]

At some point during the High Republic Era, the Togruta I'nah commandeered the cruiser from the Galactic Republic. As part of the Nihil, she served as captain of the vessel and led her crew of around fifty members. The cruiser patrolled the Stormwall, the Nihil's hyperspace barrier separating the Occlusion Zone from the rest of Republic space, for some time. At some point, she allowed the pirate Tanana Keem and her crew to use her cruiser as a staging ground for their raids.[1]

Zyle-EscapeFromValo

Zyle Keem fled the cruiser in one of its escape pods to travel to Valo.

In 229 BBY,[2] Keem and her crew visited the cruiser on their ships—the Venomed Scabbard and the Grim Devourer II—to barter goods before their heist on the astronomical object Quence. She opted to leave her child, the aspiring pirate Zyle Keem, aboard their vessel after deeming the endeavor too risky to take them. Though Zyle protested, Tanana insisted that the former could sneak around the Nihil cruiser and gather information for her. Zyle wandered through the ship's messy corridors following their mother's departure from the hangar, acquiring some lochi fruit to snack on and locating the vessel's armory.[1]

Later, when I'nah held a meeting with some of her crew and the Nihil scientist Niv Drendow Apruk in the ship's briefing room, Zyle spied on the gathering. When Apruk insisted on traveling to the Outer Rim planet Valo to gather materials for an experiment, the captain mocked him and refused. After Zyle was discovered eavesdropping, a Trandoshan Nihil led them to the cruiser's galley. The aspiring pirate stole the Trandoshan's access card, acquired food and weapons from the ship, and then fled to Valo in an escape shuttle to seek valuable medical supplies to loot. Eventually, I'nah also decided to take her cruiser to Valo, and Apruk disembarked to seek mycopram. Tanana later expressed her disappointment with Zyle for not staying on the Nihil cruiser, having told them to stay aboard.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

I'nah's cruiser appeared in Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel written by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3]
