Niv Drendow Apruk was an Umbaran male scientist who served as a member of the Nihil during the High Republic Era. He was a protégé of Ithorian^[2] Minister of Advancement Baron Boolan and worked within the pirate group's science sector.^[5]

Niv Drendow Apruk first appeared in Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel written by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's^[2] Phase III.^[6] Wong described Apruk as their "terrible son"^[7] and also enjoys the character's double first name.^[8]
