Luke Skywalker pilot

Flight suits, also spelled as flightsuits or otherwise known as jumpsuits, were a type of outfit worn by pilots. They were worn in junction with flight helmets.[1] Due to the dangerous nature of some piloting occupations, some starfighter pilots wore EVA suits.[2] They came in different colors such as blue,[3] green, and red.

Rebel Alliance[]

Pilots for the Rebel Alliance mostly wore orange flight suits, although other colors did exist. The suits were pressurized and equipped with a Flak vest and Novaldex life support unit. The suits had multiple pockets for storing tools and emergency equipment. A pocket on the sleeve allowed a pilot to carry several data cylinders. A datapad was stored on the wrist of the wearer. The suits were worn with insulated gloves and boots.[4]

New Republic[]

Pilots of the New Republic Starfighter Corps wore flight suits similar[5] to those of the Rebellion.[3] They came in colors like orange[5] and blue.[6]

Resistance[]

Resistance pilots wore updated flight suits that often bore the Rebel Alliance starbird. The suits were colored "interstellar orange." They were equipped with a FreiTek life support system. The flak vest was inflatable and more protective than the older models. Like the older models, the Resistance flight suit was outfitted with multiple pockets.[4]

Empire[]

TIE pilots wore black pressurized flight suits that provided them life support due to their ships not being equipped with life-support systems. They were insulated and had hoses and filters that connected to their helmet.[7]

First Order[]

Although First Order TIE fighters were equipped with life support, the pilots still wore insulated and pressurized flight suits that were colored black.[7] Special Forces pilots wore variants of the flight suits that had a red stripe on them[8]; while TIE/ba Baron pilots such as Elrik Vonreg or "Holo"[9] wore custom, crimson-colored flight suits.

Behind the scenes[]

On October 29, 2014, for a Halloween-themed update, a costume of a Rebellion flight suit was added to The Sims 4 for playable Sims to wear in-game. The costume is purely cosmetic and offers no gameplay changes.[10]
