Tree Mimics are a plant-like superspecies created by Legendary Pictures that first appeared in the 2024 film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Name[]

Tree Mimics are named due to their resemblance to trees and logs. While going unnamed in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the Tree Mimic's name was revealed in the film's novelization.

Design[]

Appearance[]

Tree Mimics resemble fallen logs, which can open to reveal a mouth filled with numerous sharp teeth. Their head sports extendable root-like mandibles to seize unsuspecting prey swiftly.

Roar[]

Tree Mimics produce a rumbling noise as they chew their prey.

Personality[]

Tree Mimics are ambush predators that lurk in the jungles of the Hollow Earth. Their lack of mobility means they must lay still and wait to attack unsuspecting prey. They also regurgitate items they cannot digest, such as rifles.

History[]

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire[]

During the Hollow Earth expedition, Trapper catches the scent of a Tree Mimic, which he likened to rotting flesh, and warns Ilene Andrews, Bernie Hayes, Jia, and Mikael about potential danger. Mikael scolds Trapper and Bernie about their incompetence and rants about being in charge and able to sense danger quicker than anyone else before a Tree Mimic devours him. The horrified Trapper, Bernie, Ilene, and Jia flee from the scene as the Tree Mimic chews on Mikael and regurgitates his rifle.

In the film's novelization, Ilene states that Monarch has encountered several Tree Mimic species, but not the root-like specimen that devoured Mikael.

Abilities[]

Camouflage[]

The Tree Mimic's log-like appearance keeps them hidden from unsuspecting prey. They can also hide their body heat to avoid infrared scanners' detection systems.

Teeth[]

Tree Mimics can use their razor-sharp teeth to chew human-sized prey. They use extendable root-shaped mandibles to drag their unsuspecting prey into their mouths swiftly.
