The Hawk is a giant avian superspecies that first appeared in the Monsterverse animated series, Skull Island.

Name[]

This creature currently has no official name or designation. It is given the name "Hawk" by the show's production crew,[2][3] and "Hawk Monster" by the artist design sheets.[1]

Design[]

Appearance[]

The Hawk shares several visual similarities with raptorial birds such as hawks and falcons, albeit significantly larger in size.

First seen as a juvenile, the Hawk was still large in size, though lacked the pronounced plumage that would be seen on its adult form, with both the "crest" atop its head and its tail feathers being short and lacking deep red coloring. Its talons and curved beak were also smaller in size.

As the Hawk matured, it exhibited notable physical traits including vivid yellow eyes and  a lighter shade of red plumage. The feathers on its head, wing tips, the area surrounding its eyes, and forming its tail now boasted a intensified shade of the red. Similar to many raptorial birds, the Hawk possessed a distinctive ebony curved beak and a set of ebony sickle-shaped talons.

Personality[]

The Hawk exhibited a profound loyalty towards Kong, forming a strong bond with the ape when it was still young. Acting as an aerial scout, the Hawk provided Kong with valuable reconnaissance and served as a companion to him. This loyalty also extended to Kong's human companion, the Island Girl, as the Hawk displayed a protective nature towards her.

As the Hawk grew larger and more capable of hunting, it began bringing live prey to Kong, serving as a provider of sustenance for the ape. This act demonstrated the Hawk's unwavering commitment to serving and supporting Kong, even in its adulthood.

The act of landing on Kong's arm further emphasized the deep bond between the Hawk and Kong. It symbolized trust and a strong connection between the two creatures, solidifying their relationship.

Abilities[]

Strength[]

In its juvenile years, the Hawk demonstrated  the amazing capacity to lift creatures of both comparable size and smaller stature skyward with ease, such as the giant chameleons. In its mature stage, the Hawk possessed the remarkable ability to effortlessly seize and transport its hunted game through the expanse of Skull Island, ultimately reaching the secluded temple of Kong located far within the island's interior.

Flight[]

The Hawk possesses two massive wings that enable it quick, powered flight.

Speed and agility[]

The Hawk displayed excellent agility and maneuverability while in flight. To shake loose a giant chameleon that had latched onto it during Kong's battle with the creatures, the Hawk performed an impressive spinning maneuver which sent the chameleon falling back down to the ground.
