The deck officer (pictured) blocked a smuggler disguised as a stormtrooper from accessing the hangar bay with the latter's impounded starship.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, a deck officer served aboard an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. At one point, he was reading from a datapad while sat at a station leading to a hangar bay of the Star Destroyer. A smuggler, who had previously been captured by the warship, detained aboard, and subsequently escaped their detention cell, then entered the station through a door leading to an access corridor, intent on reclaiming their light freighter that was impounded in the hangar bay. The officer, noticing the Imperial stormtrooper armor the smuggler was wearing as disguise, ordered them to halt, reminding the supposed trooper that only Imperial pilots were allowed to access the hangar.[1]

With access to their starship blocked, the smuggler left the station, though not before noticing a combination of symbols on a screen on the station's wall. The smuggler went on to learn that the code was the combination to a lock from a locker in the Star Destroyer's cargo bay, with the locker containing the flight suit of an Imperial TIE fighter pilot. Donning the suit, the smuggler eventually returned to the deck officer's station, where the officer glanced up from the datapad and noticed the pilot's gear. Satisfied, the Imperial cleared the smuggler to access the hangar bay, allowing the former detainee and their crew to ultimately board their light freighter and blast their way out of the docking facility, escaping the Star Destroyer.[1] At some point during the Galactic Civil War, the Imperial served as a support officer.[2]

Personality and traits[]

The officer was a human with light skin, gray hair, and dark eyes.[1]

Equipment[]

The officer wore a gray-colored Imperial officer's uniform with two code cylinders and a rank insignia plaque with four blue squares. He also wore a gray kepi and black gloves.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The deck officer appeared in "An Unforeseen Delay," a scenario of Space Cowboys' 2020 canon card game Unlock!: Star Wars Escape Game. One of the depictions of the officer in the game[1] re-used artwork by David Auden Nash previously used to illustrate an Imperial duty officer of the Star Wars Legends continuity in[3] the December 20, 2012[4] Core Set of Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: The Card Game.[3] The same illustration was later re-used in other Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars products,[2][5][6] including as a depiction of the Imperial Security Bureau agent Heder Brant in the 2015 Legends roleplaying game adventure Lure of the Lost, published as part of the Star Wars: Force and Destiny series of roleplaying products.[7]
