- "Good, Captain, the enemy is advancing toward the prison level."
"We're on our way." - ―CC-1004 and the captain
A Clone Captain was a human clone trooper officer who served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance. In 21 BBY, the clone was stationed aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer Tranquility as part of Green Company with the military rank of Clone Captain. Following the capture of Separatist ally Viceroy of the Trade Federation Nute Gunray, a skirmish took place aboard the Tranquility as Separatist forces attempted to rescue the viceroy or silence him.
The captain participated in the skirmish by securing the Star Destroyer's engine room alongside another clone trooper, but both failed to detect Separatist agent Asajj Ventress. After checking in with Clone Commander CC-1004, both the captain and the accompanying clone trooper moved to the prison level, allowing Ventress to sabotage the reactor of the vessel and disorienting the crew. The skirmish ultimately culminated in the successful Separatist rescue of Gunray.
Biography[]
Early life and service[]
Created on the planet Kamino from the DNA of Jango Fett, a bounty hunter who became the template of the clone trooper army,[1] the clone was a clone trooper officer within the Grand Army of the Republic. The clone participated in the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance, serving in the Republic's Green Company within the 41st Elite Corps.[3]
In 21 BBY,[4] the clone held the military rank of Clone Captain and was stationed, along with the rest of the company, aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer Tranquility,[3] the flagship of Jedi General Luminara Unduli's fleet group.[5]
Battle aboard the Tranquility[]
- "Engine room seems clear, we'll lock it down."
- ―The Clone Captain
Following the capture[3] of Executive Separatist Council member[6] Viceroy of the Trade Federation Nute Gunray on the world Rodia by Republic Senator Padmé Amidala and her companions, Green Company was dispatched to retrieve the viceroy on the surface and secure him aboard the Tranquility. While in transit, the Tranquility was attacked by Separatist Vulture droid starfighters and Droch-class boarding ships. 41st Elite Corps commanding officer Clone Commander CC-1004 "Gree" deployed Green Company to repel the Separatist attack in the main hangar.[3]
During the attack, the captain and another clone trooper traveled to secure the engine room, failing to detect Separatist agent Asajj Ventress, who had infiltrated the ship and set up explosives. They did, however, encounter the WED-15 Treadwell droid 327-T, who was inspecting the room before they arrived. While the two clones examined the room, the captain confirmed with their comrade if they witnessed anything. The captain then contacted Commander Gree to inform him that the engine room seemed secured, and acknowledged Gree's order to move to the prison level, where the remaining Separatist forces were located.[3]
The accompanying clone trooper then ordered 327-T to watch for intruders and addressed it as "327," to which the droid protested. The captain told the trooper that droids did not like being called by their nicknames. With Ventress avoiding detection, she was able to sabotage the reactor and cripple the Tranquility, along with disorienting Republic forces. By the end of the skirmish, Ventress managed to successfully rescue Gunray from the grip of the Republic.[3]
Personality and traits[]
- "You know droids don't like to be called by their nicknames."
- ―The Clone Captain, to their fellow trooper
As a clone[3] of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, the captain was a human who stood 1.83 meters (6 feet) tall,[1] weighed eighty kilograms,[2] and had tan skin.[1] The Clone Captain was aware that droids did not like being called by their nicknames, and was also comfortable reporting that the engine room seemed cleared by conducting a visual check and without conducting a lockdown of the area as they reported in.[3]
Skills and abilities[]
The clone[3] was trained in combat like all fellow clone troopers.[1]
Equipment[]
At birth, like the other clone troopers, the Clone Captain was implanted by the Kaminoan scientists with a behavioral modification biochip to ensure that the trooper would not resist certain orders.[1] As an officer within Green Company, the clone retained standard phase I clone trooper armor with identical green unit markings on their white armor. The captain utilized a DC-15A blaster carbine.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The Clone Captain first appeared[3] in the ninth episode of the first season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, "Cloak of Darkness," which aired on December 5, 2008.[7] Like all clone troopers in the series,[8] the captain was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.[3]
