The first logo for SWW seems to have been created by Sikon according to its history. I did not have the capability to create it. -- Riffsyphon1024 20:22, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I didn't create them - I merely bumped earlier revisions of wiki.png into separate images. - Sikon 14:14, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Quote[]

That quote from Pena needs a source ;o) --Eyrezer 07:20, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

  • It's from when we added him as an Official Friend I believe. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:40, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

As Cofounder[]

I don't think it would hurt to add my name up to the top of the article next to Chad, would it? -- Riffsyphon1024 03:57, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Wookieepedia.org[]

We might want to add a reference to wookieepedia.org[1]. I followed a link there once, and I for a moment thought that this site was thoroughly vandalized! We should add it to prevent confusion. User:82 Airborne

Question[]

The April Fools section reads "Most of the sites were reverted to normal on april 2nd except a couple which were "lost" and had to be restored from an earlier incarnation."

No actual contributions were lost were they? Adamwankenobi 10:44, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I seem to remember some being mentioned as being lost... but that could be an April Fools' joke itself. Delete that bit of information if you want. KEJ 12:30, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
    • The only way to "lose" contributions would require someone to go into the database itself and manually remove them. I doubt any contributions were lost. -- I need a name (Complain here) 22:20, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Um, the template has changed. Is someone going to fix that?

Wookieepedian?[]

Wookieepedian redirects to wookieepedia. Should wookieepedian redirect to list of Wookieepedians?--Windu223 13:18, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Fixed it. - JMAS 13:24, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
    • No, it shouldn't. Because it would be a self-reference that way. - Sikon 14:31, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

LucasArts and the Wookieepedia text[]

Although it is a touchy issue, I see no reason to exclude such an important fact simply because the community dislikes it. I agree that it was an unwise move of Sikon to send the letter to LucasArts, but to outright deny the issue and threaten a ban to anyone who acknowledges it seems to me an awful lot like censorship. Adamwankenobi 20:19, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I'm tempted to put it back in, under the "Popular Acclaim" section... it shows how good Wookieepedia is :-) I don't think "LucasArts used Wookieepedia text in describing some elements of their game Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron" causes any harm. But I don't have the balls to do it myself :-) --Azizlight 07:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Victims of the Great LucasCruft Purge and other SW articles nominated for deletion[]

Do we really need to list all these on this page? I'm thinking not. --Azizlight 07:35, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

  • No, we don't. - Sikon 07:43, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Someone wanted to merge the Great LucasCruft Page to here. Why couldn't they leave it where it was? -- Riffsyphon1024 15:17, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Article Improvements[]

I'm just starting a checklist here of things we might want to add to this article. However, we don't want this to just turn into a help file describing every feature of the site. Feel free to edit it with anything that needs improvement. —Xwing328(Talk) 05:00, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

  • This can really be a great article, and I would hope to get it to Featured Status one day. But we need help expanding the sections, and as NPOV as possible. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:08, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
    • Strange, how did those 2003's get in there? -- Riffsyphon1024 07:48, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Noncanon[]

All of Wookiepedia is non-canon, so shouldn't non-canon articles be allowed, with a reference saying that they are non-canon? Unsigned comment by RC-1130 (talk • contribs).

  • How is it all non-canon? Chack Jadson (Talk) 13:18, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Interesting enough to mention?[]

DreadnaughtCruiserWookieepedia-CatAndMouse

Right here.

The text from the Wookieepedia article Sith Dreadnaught cruiser was copied by the TCW crew and added to the episode Cat and Mouse. Is this worthy enough to mention in this article? Kreivi Wolter 17:35, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

  • It definitely is. --Imperialles 17:43, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion Page[]

Shouldn't there be a suggestion page? Somewhere users can leave suggestions?

Debate Page[]

Wouldn't a Debate Page be interesting? Assuming the debates aren't about circumstantial things....

1.1 Cleanup[]

Two items:

First archived forum pages should not be deleted, there should be someway to retain the link and move the page. I came here to look for the very interesting discussion on the new wikia skin, and it was deleted.[2] Fortunately I knew enough about wikia urls I could ascertain where the page was deleted too. 99% of visitors do not have that knowledge.

Second Where is the general discussion page? I see Senate Hall and Help, but there is really no place which the average user can readily and quickly see to quickly start discussing things -- such as suggestions for improvements on this site. Anno1404 22:00, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

New Starwars.com encyclopedia[]

It seems in the newly launched StarWars.com Encyclopedia, every article has a link that says "More on Wookieepedia", which links to that subject's Wook page. Is the launch of this new encyclopedia and it's connection to Wookieepedia perhaps worthy of mention in the "History" section of this article? — Hunter Kahn 07:16, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

I'd say yes. –Tm_T (Talk) 13:07, September 14, 2011 (UTC)
This actually brings up another question. Would it be reasonable to mention "the Wook" as an alternate slang name for the wiki? -- Riffsyphon1024 06:09, April 26, 2012 (UTC)
I'd say so. If it's widespread enough among users, it can't hurt to have a mention somewhere. In the beginning of the article, though? Not sure about that. For what it's worth, "the Wook" is used quite frequently on IRC. Trak Nar Ramble on 06:12, April 26, 2012 (UTC)

New film[]

The "new film" The Force Awakens obviously wont be "new" forever, so it would be better to avoid using the word "new" at all. Please fix. -- 109.78.253.255 21:40, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

150,000th article[]

Anyone know when Wookieepedia hit 150,000 articles and what the 150,000th article was. GeneralGrievous7 (talk) 09:44, July 6, 2019 (UTC)

Deadnaming controversy[]

Hi there, I was thinking of updating the article to include a brief account of the Deadnaming controversy. I understand that this is still a controversial matter here but I think that it will be essential for the historical record given the amount of external interest and discussion that it generated. The Wookieepedia article on Wikipedia already has it as does their Fandom article. Just to be frank, I added them there for the historical record. Here is my proposed draft:

On March 16, 2021, Wookieepedia held a Consensus Track to ban deadnaming in response to disputes over the names of Robin Pronovost and Daniel M. Lavery, who identify as non-binary and queer respectively. This vote generated heated debate and criticism among Wookieepedians, the wider Star Wars fandom, and social media; with several Wookieepedians being banned for allegedly soliciting votes. The vote was also criticized by Star Wars writers Daniel José Older and E. K. Johnston, the Star Wars fan website TheForce.net, and the Transformers franchise wiki TFWiki.[1][2][3]

In response to the situation, Fandom, the wiki hosting service which hosts Wookieepedia, updated its terms of use policy to ban deadnaming across its websites on March 30, 2021. Tommy Quivy, Fandom's Director of Community Safety, also nullified the vote and lifted the bans on several Wookieepedia users.[1][2][3] On behalf of the Wookieepedia administration team, Fandom also banned two senior administrators Darth Culator and Toprawa and Ralltiir following complaints by current and former users that the pair had perpetuated a "culture of bullying and intimidation." In addition, Wookieepedia's administration apologized to Pronovost for the hurt that they have endured as a result of the deadnaming vote.[4]

Feel free to make any edits or feedback to this draft. Will also be happy to hear feedback on our Discord channel. Andykatib 23:56, April 10, 2021 (UTC)

  • After consulting with fellow Wookieepedians on Discord, I have decided that it would be best to put the issue into carbonite for now given the amount of coverage and controversy around it. Will be focusing on other things when editing Wookieepedia including screenshot images for The Star Wars Show, This Week! in Star Wars, and a history of Lucasfilm Ltd. Kind regards. Andykatib 03:14, April 10, 2021 (UTC)
    • I wasn't awake when you exposed this proposition to Discord, but as you already know, I support this addition to the page. Its heavily biased to choose to show only the thing we are proud of, we shall also reflect on this kind of events, and choose to improve, rather than sweep it under the carpet, and only spoke of it with a hushed tone. Some said that it was already documented elsewhere on the internet (and we know it wasn't always truthful), and that the CT/SH should be enough coverage. To this, I respond that is ignoring our mission as an encyclopedia, and as this page prove it, this mission also include the recording of our own history. Yes, it was hurtful, I know, I was literally hooked to Wookieepedia's Twitter feeds on my Tweetdeck during the whole affair (call that professional obsession), from the moment Robin Pronovost first reacted there. I've seen most, if not all, messages addressed to us or speaking about us. But it's my opinion we shall record it on this page. -NanoLuukeCloning facility 10:45, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
