"The Overseer saw some action at Pothor and Jeyell, but it's had a complete inspection and overhaul for this mission."
Mechanic Willard Waylin, to the Imperial Starfighter Pilot "Titan Three"[2]

Pothor was a planet in the Mid Rim Territories that the Rebel Alliance took over during its unsuccessful Mid Rim Offensive, later being set to evacuate when the Galactic Empire began pushing back in 2 ABY. By 4 ABY, the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Overseer had won distinction at Pothor.

Description[]

Pothor was a planet located in the Mid Rim Territories.[1]

History[]

"With regret, I must report that the Mid Rim Offensive has collapsed around several flash points, necessitating a withdrawal of Alliance troops to better-fortified holdings."
―Carlist Rieekan, in a document addressed to Mon Mothma[1]

During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the Imperial-controlled Pothor fell to Alliance forces when they led an offensive into the Mid Rim[1] beginning around 1 ABY. In 2 ABY,[3] an Imperial counterpush led to the collapse of the Alliance's campaign, necessitating the withdrawal of Alliance troops to more fortified holdings. Expected to be retaken by the Empire in short order, Pothor and the planets Charros IV, Durkteel, Jeyell, Ord Tiddell, and Trasse were set to be evacuated by the Alliance.[1]

In a classified document addressed to Alliance Commander-in-Chief Mon Mothma, General Carlist Rieekan summarized the situation, citing the imminent evacuation of Pothor and the other five worlds. Rieekan also noted that a few local revolutionaries were going to evacuate with the Alliance while others were set to stay behind and harass the Empire. The document was eventually included in The Rebel Files, an archive of non-electronic documents collected by archivist Hendri Underholt.[1]

By 4 ABY,[4] the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Overseer participated in an engagement at Pothor. Its service there and at the Battle of Jeyell won the Star Destroyer some distinction.[5] After those engagements, the Overseer underwent a complete inspection and overhaul.[6]

Behind the scenes[]

Jeyell was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Daniel Wallace's 2017 reference book and boxed set Star Wars: The Rebel Files.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Pothor system first appeared in the 1988 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game adventure Strike Force: Shantipole.[7]
