"I found myself on the vanguard of the Mid Rim Offensive, on Ord Tiddell and elsewhere. We tried to grab too much, too fast."
―Caluan Ematt, in an annotion in The Rebel Files[1]

Ord Tiddell was a Mid Rim Territories planet, located in the Near Perlemian area, that the Rebel Alliance took over during its Mid Rim Offensive against the Galactic Empire that began around 1 ABY. Lieutenant Caluan Ematt served with the Alliance on Ord Tiddell during that time. After the campaign collapsed in 2 ABY, the world was one of the first to be evacuated, with the Empire attacking during the evacuation. In 4 ABY, rumors of a high-ranking rebel heading towards the Near Perlemian led to a Cynabar's InfoNet news report suggesting Ord Tiddell and three other worlds to be the possible location of a rebel summit or a new rebel headquarters.

Description[]

Ord Tiddell was a terrestrial planet located in the Mid Rim Territories and within the Near Perlemian area.[1]

History[]

Alliance retreat[]

"Made it out on the last transport. As we lifted off, I saw the Empire light up the launchpad with plasmic artillery."
―Caluan Ematt, in an annotion in The Rebel Files[1]
Lt Ematt

Lieutenant Caluan Ematt served on Ord Tiddell.

Around 1 ABY,[2] during the Galactic Civil War between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, the Alliance launched an offensive into the Mid Rim. The Imperial-controlled Ord Tiddell soon found itself at the offensive's vanguard, with Alliance forces taking control of the world as they made rapid progress. Lieutenant Caluan Ematt served on the planet during the campaign. However,[1] in 2 ABY,[2] nine months after the Mid Rim Offensive had begun,[3] the campaign stalled and subsequently collapsed at several flashpoints due to Imperial pushback.[1]

The Empire's counterpush necessitated the withdrawal of Alliance troops to more fortified holdings. Alliance forces prepared to retreat from Ord Tiddell and five other worlds—Charros IV, Durkteel, Jeyell, Pothor, and Trasse—that the Empire was expected to retake in short order. General Carlist Rieekan summarized the situation in a classified document addressed to the Alliance Commander-in-Chief Mon Mothma, with Ord Tiddell and the other five worlds being cited in it. Rieekan further noted that, although a few local revolutionaries were set to join the evacuations, the rest were going to stay and harass the Empire. During the Alliance's evacuation, the Empire reached Ord Tiddell, bombarding rebel launchpads with plasmic artillery as the last transport escaped, carrying personnel such as Ematt aboard.[1]

Rumors around the region[]

"According to sources, a high-ranking Alliance chief is enroute to the Perlemian. Planets such as Trasse, Durkteel, Jeyell, and Ord Tiddell have surfaced as potential sites for a rebel summit or the establishment of a new planet-based headquarters."
―A Cynabar's InfoNet report[1]

Cynabar's InfoNet suggested Ord Tiddell as one of the possible locations of rebel activity.

Documents reporting on the Mid Rim Offensive and its collapse were collected by archivist Hendri Underholt for the compilation of non-electronic documents known as The Rebel Files.[1] In 4 ABY,[4] Underholt went to Durkteel as a decoy of Mothma to divert the Empire's attention from the Alliance's preparations to attack the Empire's second Death Star superweapon. Rumors of a trip towards the Near Perlemian by a high-ranking rebel leader were leaked, and the Cynabar's InfoNet news channel reported on the matter, listing Ord Tiddell, Durkteel, Jeyell, and Trasse as potential locations for a rebel summit or the establishment of a new rebel headquarters.[1]

Underholt collected the news report for The Rebel Files before they were killed when the Empire bombarded their position on Durkteel. Initially buried from the attack, The Rebel Files fell into the hands of the Resistance[1]—a military group with Alliance roots[2]—following an excavation of the bombarded site[1] in 34 ABY,[4] and Ematt and several other Resistance officers made annotations on the documents inside. Among others, Ematt commented on the reports on the Mid Rim campaign and its collapse, recalling his time on Ord Tiddell.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Ord Tiddell was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Daniel Wallace's 2017 reference book and boxed set Star Wars: The Rebel Files.[1] The planet originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #55, an issue of the representation of the in-universe HoloNet News[5] that was written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens, illustrated by Joe Corroney,[6] and released on the HoloNet News website on May 9, 2002.[7]

As the former also states that The Rebel Files was rediscovered thirty years after the battle, the artifact must have been found in 34 ABY.
