"For the jump we’re attempting, if your calculations are off by even a little, we will be lost to the depths of the void."
Baylan Skoll, to Morgan Elsbeth[1]

The intergalactic void referred to the space between galaxies. It represented a massive challenge in intergalactic travel, owing to the fact that even the slightest miscalculations in hyperspace jumps would result in the starship being permanently lost inside it with no way out.[2]

In 9 ABY,[3] Morgan Elsbeth's forces managed to recover a star map that depicted the Pathway to Peridea, a route that led directly from the galaxy to another, where Jedi Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn were stranded. Determined to recover the last Grand Admiral and restore the Galactic Empire, Elsbeth had Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati search for the reflex point where the path began,[4] while she tasked her forces with constructing a gigantic hyperspace transport ring,[5] the Eye of Sion, capable of extragalactic travel through the Pathway's route. After Skoll discovered the reflex point on the planet Seatos,[6] and despite the intervention of New Republic General Hera Syndulla, former Jedi Ahsoka Tano, and her apprentice Sabine Wren, Elsbeth's forces were able to translate the star map into viable hyperspace coordinates and successfully executed a jump through the void towards Peridea.[2]
