The Pathway to Peridea was an ancient extragalactic hyperspace route from the galaxy to another distant galaxy. An old Jedi legend described the existence of a means to travel through the migration routes of dying Purrgil. It consisted of a straight line between the planet Seatos in the Denab system and another - Peridea - in the faraway galaxy.

History[]

Jedi legend[]

When Baylan Skoll was a youngling in the Jedi Temple, his peers used to tell the story of the Pathway, much to Baylan's amusement who regarded it as “a mere fairytale".[2] According to the Younglings, the path was used by dying Purrgil to reach the "graveyard world" of Peridea, where they would go to die, their bodies gradually disintegrating and their bones added to the planet's ring.[3]

The legend of the Pathway was also known among the Nightsisters of Dathomir, who believed Peridea to be the original home of their species, the Dathomiri.[3]

Exploring the Pathway[]

In around 9 ABY, the Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth hired Baylan's mercenary services to recover a spherical star map, first unearthed by the former Jedi Ahsoka Tano on the planet Arcana, that held the details of the Pathway. Ahsoka took the map to Lothal so that her former apprentice, the Mandalorian Sabine Wren could decipher it; however Baylan's apprentice Shin Hati attacked and severely wounded Wren on Lothal, managing to retrieve the map for Elsbeth and Baylan. Together, they discovered that the map was fully functional and that the Pathway indeed existed. Believing that Peridea was where her ally, Grand Admiral Thrawn ended up after the Liberation of Lothal,[2] thanks to the purrgil that kidnapped his Star Destroyer,[3] Elsbeth had her shipyards on the planet Corellia secretly refurbish and transport the hyperdrive cores of Imperial-class Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers to Seatos, where they were integrated into a multi-drive extragalactic transport vessel, the Eye of Sion.[2]

As soon as the Eye was complete, Elsbeth had her forces begin the long process of deciphering the coordinates contained in the star map to translate them into a functional travel path for the ship to follow. By integrating the star map to a reflex point constructed in the henge of Seatos by a species from the faraway galaxy, Elsbeth's star navigator droids transmitted the details of the route directly to the Eye. The process was however interrupted by Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano, who had discovered their location on Seatos by tracking transport CT-O5's beacon. Baylan was however able to defeat Tano and coerce Wren to allow the process to be completed, in exchange for allowing her to reunite with her friend Ezra Bridger on Peridea. Despite the delayed arrival of New Republic forces under General Hera Syndulla and their attempt to stop the Eye before it departed, Elsbeth and her allies managed to jump to hyperspace, en route to their destination galaxy.[1]

A place of dreams and legends[]

After a long journey through the intergalactic void, the Eye of Sion arrived to the distant galaxy, confirming the Pathway's existence and destination.[3]
