Sometime after the hunt on Chandar's Folly, Darth Vader took three Inquisitors to hunt the former Jedi Master Eeth Koth, who had left the Jedi Order. Darth Vader and his Inquisitors arrived just as Koth's wife, Mira, was giving birth. Koth distracted Vader while Mira escaped and the two engaged in a lightsaber duel. After knocking Koth down briefly, Vader sent the Inquisitors to secure the child as a part of Project Harvester.

Koth continued to fight Vader, but was badly beaten in the process. The Thirteenth Sister was able to locate Mira and her daughter before she could escape, and apprehended the baby. She then presented it before Vader and the injured Koth, who were still fighting. While Koth was distracted by his daughter's capture, Vader slashed his back, killing him.

Prelude[]

"I'm not him anymore. I'm no one. No threat to anyone."
―Koth dismisses his past[3]

Following the destruction of the Jedi Order, the Emperor sent his Sith apprentice, Darth Vader and the Inquisitorius to hunt down the surviving Jedi.[6] Among these survivors was the Zabrak Eeth Koth. He cut all ties with his former life and joined the Church of the Ganthic Enlightenment as a priest, hosting weddings and funerals. He also fell in love with another Zabrak named Mira, who eventually became pregnant.[3]

The hunt[]

"I told you, Sith. I am no Jedi. Not anymore. I am a husband. As of today, a father. And, to protect the ones I love…your doom."
―Koth duels Vader[3]

Eeth Koth attacks Darth Vader

Sometime after the hunt on Chandar's Folly, Vader was able to locate Koth and, with three Inquisitors, he traveled to his planet to kill him. Vader interrupted Koth shortly after his daughter was born. Koth tried to deny he was a threat to the Empire anymore and claimed he could help him track down other surviving Jedi. Vader did not care for this, so Koth threw his medical droid at him, covering Mira's escape with his daughter. He then grabbed his lightsaber with the Force and faced Vader alone.[3]

Koth lunged at Vader, resulting in a lightsaber duel. As they fought, Vader sensed fear, anger, and resentment in Koth. Something Koth thought was sourced from the fact he now had something to lose. Vader then Force pushed him away and told his Inquisitors to find Koth's daughter, who was Force-sensitive. Koth got up again and attacked him. As this happened, the Inquisitors split up into the city to find his daughter. The Inquisitor[3] Thirteenth Sister[5] reached out with the Force and was able to locate it before the other two could. She confronted Mira and her baby as they were about to board her father's shuttle. Mira pleaded with Akaris, hoping to form a relation as they were both women. Akaris let her pass, much to Mira's relief and the surprise of the other two Inquisitors as they arrived. However, she then pulled the baby from Mira's hands with the Force as the shuttle departed.[3] Tualon Yaluna[5] asked why she did this and she claimed it was so the Zabrak could no longer trust another woman again.[3]

Meanwhile Koth and Vader were still fighting. While Koth had made aggressive moves to try and kill him, Vader Force choked him and injured him greatly. Koth swore to protect his family. But Vader pointed him to Akaris with his daughter. In his moment of shock, Vader struck him down with his lightsaber, killing him.[3]

Aftermath[]

"To one less Jedi in the galaxy."
―Tualon, toasting to the death of Eeth Koth[3]

Vader chases Iskat Akaris and Tualon

After Koth's death, his daughter was taken back to the Inquisitorius Headquarters to be put into Project Harvester. Shortly after this, Akaris and Tualon toasted to Koth's death with a drink from the planet he was on, dust juice.[3] The other Inquisitor on the mission, the Fifth Brother, reported what Akaris had done before capturing the baby to Vader. Vader suspected this as an act of defiance and went to kill her. Tualon defended her, but after a short chase, they were both killed.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The hunt for Eeth Koth first appeared in Darth Vader (2017) 19, a 2018 canon comic written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli.[3]
