During the Great Jedi Purge, the Galactic Empire embarked on a hunt during the early years of the Imperial Era for the rebel network known as the Hidden Path, which helped to smuggle surviving Jedi and other Force-sensitives away from the Empire.[1] In 9 BBY,[2] it became tied to the hunt for Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi when he allied himself with the Path to rescue Princess Leia Organa. While they escaped, the Third Sister placed a tracking device on them to lead the Empire to both Kenobi and the Path.[1]

Future Lucasfilm Projects Revealed on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Obi-Wan Kenobi is set ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 19 BBY. Therefore, the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, including the hunt for the Path, must be set in 9 BBY. In "Part IV," Tala Durith's lie to the Third Sister includes the claim that she had spent two years undercover in the Path as part of the hunt. Therefore, the hunt must have begun by 11 BBY.
