In 2009, a rewrite of the Naming policy was voted. It introduced a rule for "Years and plain numbers", establishing that real-world years would receive precedence over in-universe numbers, a mesure that can be seen as anticipatory of articles such as 2163. More recently, first in 2014 with May when the article was turned into a redirect for Mari Amithest based on her script nickname of "Jedi Child May", and second with the arising need of a in-universe August 8 article (see Argo-6), it felt that an amendment to the Naming policy was necessary, as our current rules would have us put precedence on minors IU subjects rather than our earthly calendar used virtually, all over Wookieepedia (including on several templates).

Proposition[]
Here are the following changes I'm proposing to the Naming policy:
==General rules==
===Disambiguation===
====In-universe vs. real-world articles====
- Remove striked text:
If an in-universe article and a real-world (or out-of-universe) article compete for the same title, the in-universe subject shall take precedence at all times.
- Add a second bullet:
- As an exception, articles on real-world days, months, years and decades shall take precedence over any in-universe articles competing for the same title (examples: August 8 shall direct to the real-world day, not August 8 (in-universe); May should not be a redirect to Mari Amithest, identified as "Jedi Child May" in a movie's script).
==Specific rules==
===Years and plain numbers===
- Rename sub-section as "Years".
- Remove striked text:
Plain numbers (like 1138) can be used for any purpose, with a small exception of numbers between 1970 and 2030, which are reserved for the real-world year articles (when new articles outside this range are created, the range may be extended in five-year increments as needed without need for full CT discussion).

Discussion[]
- Is it even necessary to keep "Plain numbers (like 1138) can be used for any purpose." It feels pointless. NanoLuukeCloning facility 14:24, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- I'd say no, and that section should be renamed to just "Years". Imperators II(Talk) 14:28, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

- Just a minor thing, on the second bullet you want to add, "in-universe" has an extraneous "s" at the end. There's also a bit of grammar iffiness in the first example: try "August 8 shall direct to the real-world day, not August 8 (in-universe)". You might also want to take out the comma after "decades".
