The result of the debate was: Adopt new policy. —Silly Dan (talk) 13:59, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
Naming policy. It's about time we get one. The current Naming conventions are a terrible example of a policy, copied from Wikipedia and containing redundant redlinks, links to uncompleted Wikipedia conventions, and even conventions on naming things we don't have.
I present to you a brand new policy, that follows established precedents, recognizes canon as the ultimate source for the name, and includes specific rules from CTs that have been already established over the years (thanks to all users who helped me find them). The proposal is: to move Wookieepedia:Naming conventions to Wookieepedia:Naming policy, replace it with the new version of the policy presented here and make respective changes to {{Policies}}. The idea is that any subsequent CTs for naming specific kind of articles would add to that policy a new rule under a subheading in Specific rules section. MauserComlink 15:33, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
Addendum 1: Re-organized links to individual CTs to look more reader-friendly per jSarek' proposal. No content has been changed with exception of a slight rewording here and there.
Addendum 2: I also propose to remove specific conventions from WP:MOS#Naming articles and turn that section into a soft link to the new policy. MauserComlink 11:58, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Any additions, suggestion, factual or spelling correction should be listed here. I will make sure to post non-trivia changes I made here, if the need for them arises. MauserComlink 15:33, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
- "use (video game) instead if simply (game)" The if should be changed to of. Nayayen

- A really trivial thing, but anyway: the nickname and conjecture templates should be capitalized. Tinwe 18:47, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
- Rather than using "it has been decided" repeatedly to set links to various relevant CT threads, I'd prefer to see a system like is currently used in our Manual of Style. jSarek 05:36, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
- Doesn't whether or not to use "Star Wars" in the title of an article fall under this? For example, Star Wars: Legacy rather than Legacy (comics). —Milo Fett[Comlink] 16:52, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
- Two hopefully minor points: could "(stage names included)" in point 2 be amended to "(adopted names included)"? And under real-world people naming, "Whenever possible, use people's full names instead of initials" might need clarification to make it clear that "use the credited name" takes precedence. —Silly Dan (talk) 17:07, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
