So, I'd like to revisit Forum:CT Archive/"X (language)" or "X language"?, which decided that we would use "X language" over "X (language)". Frankly, I think this is wrong when a language is given a canonical name, particularly from a factual standpoint. According to the Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, the Cerean species' language is called simply Cerean, not Cerean language. Similarly, there's Voss (language), which is expressly called "Voss". We don't call Huttese "Huttese language," do we?
I'm proposing we modify the naming policy's language entry to the following:
- If a language has been given an official name, then that name should be used as the article's title, with the parenthetical "(language)" if there is a naming conflict (example: Cerean (language) instead of Cerean language). If a language has not been given an official name, "Species language" should be used as a conjectural title for the article.
As a result, many of the entries in Category:Languages will have to be moved, but their sources should be checked to make sure that they have a non-conjectural name before doing so.
