Din Djarin's N-1 starfighter was a modified N-1 starfighter owned by Din Djarin following the destruction of the Razor Crest. Djarin and the mechanic Peli Motto worked together to build the N-1 starfighter as a replacement.

Djarin and Motto added several modifications to^[1] Din Djarin's N-1 starfighter^[9] to achieve greater speed. The starfighter had both laser cannons replaced with larger models and retained the under-slung torpedo launcher beneath its nose. Additionally the front cones of both engines were removed, but Motto had at least one on the front of both wings. Only the skeleton remained, and the panels beneath the cockpit and at the ship's tail were removed during the modification process. Motto added a Kineso-switch that enabled a starship to access its induction intake charger, which would allow the ship to travel at blinding speeds. Citing Djarin's aversion to droids, Motto also removed the astromech socket, instead using the space for a small passenger compartment and transparent observation dome.^[1]

The ship's vapor manifold was replaced by a turbonic venturi power assimilator from a Galactic Republic-era starfighter. The thrust capacitor had an induction intake charger that Motto fabricated for the ship, and a cryogenic density combustion booster from a Pyke repulsortrain added to the rear thruster. All of the yellow paint was removed except a few stripes on each wing, mimicking the Razor Crest.^[1]

In 9 ABY,^[10] Din Djarin arrived at Hangar 3-5 in Mos Eisley on Tatooine after being contacted by Peli Motto regarding to a replacement ship following the destruction of the Razor Crest. Though initially reluctant to purchase the ship, Djarin agreed to assist Motto in rebuilding the ship with the help of her droids, with parts supplied by a pair of Jawas. Motto also included several custom modifications designed to make the ship faster. Though initially hesitant about the ship, Djarin bonded with it during the rebuild, and following a test flight came to like it.^[1]

First flight[]

After the ship was completed, Djarin took it through a test flight through Beggar's Canyon, noting that it handled bumpily until he throttled forward—with very tight maneuvering ability. The ship was very agile and smooth while flying at high speed.^[1]

Following the run through the canyon, Djarin took the ship out of the atmosphere and into space, flying near a passenger liner. This maneuver attracted the attention of two New Republic patrol pilots flying in T-65B X-wing starfighters who intercepted him, with one of them requesting he run his beacon for them. He was informed that flying that close to a commercial ship was prohibited, and following a brief conversation he used the kineso switch installed by Motto that accelerated the starfighter in such a way that one of the New Republic patrol pilots thought he had engaged a jump into hyperspace. Djarin then returned to the hangar with an appreciation for his new spacecraft. There, he was approached by Fennec Shand who offered Djarin a job to aid Boba Fett in his fight against the Pyke Syndicate. Djarin agreed to help, but only after he delivered a gift to Grogu.^[1]

Making a delivery[]

Djarin used the fighter to travel to Ossus, where Luke Skywalker was training Grogu as well as building what would become a Jedi academy. He was guided by R2-D2 to a landing spot next to a body of water near where many ant droids were building a domed structure from pieces of stone. After waiting, he was greeted by Ahsoka Tano, who convinced Djarin to leave the gift with her so as to not disrupt Grogu's training. Djarin reluctantly agreed and departed back to Tatooine as Grogu watched from a distance.^[8]

Djarin traveled with the fighter to Tatooine and landed inside Jabba's Palace garage. He was greeted by a Gamorrean guard and informed him that his presence was requested by Fennec Shand. Djarin joined a meeting with Fett's forces, where Shand introduced him and informed all that if the war was to begin, they would need foot soldiers to aid them. Djarin noted that he could arrange that. He traveled with his ship to Freetown, and landed at the end of the town's main street. Deputy Scott noticed Djarin, and was quick to demand he park his ship in the flats. As Djarin ignored the request and stated he came to see Cobb Vanth, Scott hovered his hand over his blaster. He was quickly dismissed by the marshal himself, who greeted his old ally and showed admiration for Djarin's custom fighter. After Djarin presented his request to the marshal, he departed from Freetown in the ship.^[8]

Djarin fought alongside Fett in the war against the Syndicate. During the battle, Djarin was reunited with Grogu, who decided to leave his training with Skywalker and return to the Mandalorian. Fett, Djarin, and their allies were ultimately successful in driving the Pykes off the planet. Djarin departed from Tatooine, with Grogu seated in the small pod seat built into the ship. Grogu tapped the dome of the seat, which Djarin responded to with a negative. Grogu repeated this several times, until Djarin agreed for what he said is the last time. He flicked a switch, causing the ship to accelerate rapidly, as Grogu squealed.^[7]

Redemption[]

Eventually, Djarin, in his N-1 starfighter, travelled to a Children of the Watch refuge located on a planet and helped the Mandalorians defeat the creature that interrupted by a reptilian creature, and he landed his ship and made his way inside the cave refuge. There, he meets the Armorer. He asks the Armorer of a way to redeem himself, as he broke the creed by removing his helmet in front of others. She informs him of the Living Waters in the Mines of Mandalore that he may bathe in to be redeemed. However, she believes the mines to be destroyed during the Great Purge of Mandalore. Djarin shows her a Mandalorian inscription recovered from Mandalore, showing her that the planet may not be completely destroyed.^[3]

Din Djarin's N-1 starfighter first appeared in "Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian," the fifth episode of the live action television series The Book of Boba Fett, which was written by Jon Favreau, directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, and aired on Disney+^[1] on January 26, 2022.^[11] Concept art for the starship's appearance in The Book of Boba Fett was created by artists Christian Alzmann, Ryan Church,^[12] Anton Grandert,^[13] and Doug Chiang. Chiang originally designed the N-1 starfighter for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The idea of building a customized version of a vehicle with speed modifications in a garage with a mechanic was inspired by the film American Graffiti, which was directed by George Lucas.^[14]
