This article describes the Manual of Style for the Phantom Seer wiki and contains information set as the guidelines that are used to keep articles structured in an organized fashion. These rules are subject to change without prior notice.

Writing Style[]

Language[]

  • The content of this wiki must be expressed in English. This is an English language wiki and all edits are expected to be carried out in English.
    • The sole exception is the use of Japanese/Romaji related to titles of content such as names, chapter/volume titles, and any other piece of determining content in the series.
    • The official VIZ translations are to be used for the English titles of chapters, volumes, and characters.
      • In accordance with official translations, please do not write out long vowels in romanized names (ex. use 'Yojiro' instead of 'Yojirou' or 'Yojirō').
        • Writing the romaji in either the {{Nihongo}} template or an infobox is exempt from this rule, and long vowels should be written with a macron (ex. ō, ū) in these cases.
      • In the event where a VIZ translation is confidently deemed to be inaccurate, the translation may be changed if and only if the VIZ translation is clearly listed somewhere else as well.
  • The use of profanity, slang, and euphemisms in articles is not permitted, unless it is used under the context of direct quotes from characters.

Writing[]

Content should be written using a third-person perspective and in a factual and formal manner without opionated or biased statements. Misinformation is absolutely not tolerated.

  • Articles must all be written in present tense for the purpose of consistency. Exceptions include:
    • Deceased characters, and they should have their profile sections written in past tense.
    • The 'History' section of character synopses and any flashbacks to previous story points. These should also be written in past tense.

Images and Media[]

See the Image Policy page for more information, or contact an admin for any questions or concerns.

Layout Guide[]

Characters[]

Character pages should not be created before the character's name or alias has been revealed, which will sustain the {{Character}} infobox. Tabs and Subpages should only be added when a character's page has become extremely lengthy due to a surplus of content.

If applicable, character pages should begin with a meaningful quote by the character. It should then be followed by the character's name in English and Japanese, along with a short general description. The following headings should be used in this order if applicable to the character:

  • Appearance
    • Physical appearance comes first, followed by the character's outfit(s).
    • If the character has multiple noteworthy outfits, they are to be listed in the order they appear.
    • A Gallery subheading and subsection can be added to show off the character's color scheme and various outfits.
  • Personality
  • History (if applicable and no synopsis subpage exists)
  • Synopsis (if no synopsis subpage exists)
  • Abilities (if applicable)
  • Relationships (if applicable and no relationships subpage exists)
  • Trivia (if applicable)
  • Quotes (if applicable)
  • References
  • Site Navigation

Images depicting major events that occur to the character may be included and are preferred in order to have a visual representation of the character. However, there should not be more besides what is necessary so as to not clutter the page.

Chapters[]

In the {{Chapter}} infobox, only the raw (Japanese) cover of the chapter should be used. The cover page of a chapter is the one that has the chapter title on it, and it is not necessarily the first page. New chapter pages should not be created before they're released by ViZ.

For chapters, the following headings should be used in this order:

  • Synopsis (short summary)
  • Summary (long summary)
  • Characters in Order of Appearance
  • Events
  • Trivia (if applicable)
  • References (if applicable)
  • Site Navigation

Images depicting major events that occur in the chapter may be included and are preferred in order to have a visual representation of the chapter. However, there should not be more besides what is necessary so as to not clutter the page.

Trivia[]

When adding trivia or any other information coming from an official outside source, references to the source are required. This excludes information such as character name interpretations or popularity poll results.

Referencing[]

Information should always be referenced from official source material if it is not an obvious fact. If you are unable to decide whether or not to reference, it is best to add in the reference.

While referencing is expected and encouraged, it is advised to not add a reference after every sentence as to avoid cluttering the writing. Once per paragraph is usually more than enough.

Referencing chapters[]

To reference a chapter, please use the format below:

  • <ref>[[Chapter #]] (p. #)</ref>
    • Although the page number(s) is/are not necessary, it is recommended to add them.

Referencing outside sources[]

When referencing outside sources, please add a link to the source and a short description. For example:

  • <ref>[https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/titles/100115 Official MANGA Plus Overview]</ref>
    • The description here is 'Official MANGA Plus Overview.'
  • The wiki's information should only come from manga, official websites, official material, officially proven interviews and Kento Matsuura/Togo Goto.

Additional Information[]

As this wiki is open to any editors and contain content from many various individuals, it does not 'belong' to any single person and as such, should be treated as a community project. For disputes and violations, please see the conduct policy for more information.

If you're still unsure about how a page should look like, feel free to reference similar pages on the wiki. Do not hesitate to contact an admin if you have any questions or concerns.

This page is based off of the Kimetsu no Yaiba and My Hero Academia wiki policy pages.
