A terrestrial dead moon was located in the Nihil pirates' Occlusion Zone region of space during the High Republic Era.[1] By 228 BBY,[2] a starfighter that belonged to the San Tekka clan member Cair San Tekka had been left on the moon's dark side.[1]
That year,[2] before traveling to[1] the Mid Rim's[3] Chommell sector planet Naboo, San Tekka made his way to the moon in his shuttle, the Brightbird. After leaving the vessel on the moon's dark side, San Tekka left in his fighter, which he piloted to[1] the Chommell sector planet[3] Jafan. After he eventually arrived on Naboo, San Tekka recalled his visit to the dead moon.[1]

The dead moon was mentioned in the 2024 novel The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[4]
