"Debris approaches the Trymant system! Celestial bodies in the danger zone include Korbatal, Ost Molkar, Taz Molkar, Trymant III, and Trymant IV."
―Mari San Tekka[4]

Trymant III was a moon of the planet Trymant IV, a world in the Outer Rim and Western Reaches regions of the galaxy. In 232 BBY, the moon was destroyed by an Emergence—a collection of hyperspace debris from the Legacy Run freighter produced as a result of the Great Hyperspace Disaster. By 3 ABY during the Imperial Era, records of the destruction of Trymant IV's moons—including Trymant III—were available in certain databases.

Description[]

Trymant III was a moon of[5] the Outer Rim planet[7] Trymant IV,[5] which itself orbited the Trymant system's binary star.[8] As a Trymant system moon, Trymant III was situated in the Western Reaches region[3] and in square L-20 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[6] One of Trymant IV's other moons—Praknat 3—held the closest orbit of the planet comparative to the world's other moons,[8] which included Trymant III.[5]

History[]

Marchion Ro: "It's not wrong."

The Trymant system Emergence, which destroyed Trymant III

During the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated a section of the Outer Rim—which included Trymant IV[2] and therefore its moons[5]—as the Galactic Frontier, locations considered far removed enough from the galaxy's center to send explorers there.[2] In 232 BBY, the Great Hyperspace Disaster spurred Emergences—parts of hyperspace debris from the destroyed Legacy Run freighter—to start emerging from space and striking celestial bodies throughout the galaxy.[9] One captive of the Nihil marauders—the hyperspace savant Mari San Tekka—determined one such Emergence would threaten several locations in the Trymant system, including Trymant III, in the near future. Doctor Kisma Uttersond reported the information to the Nihil's leader Marchion Ro, prompting the leader to travel to the Trymant system before the event occurred.[4]

Ultimately, Trymant III was destroyed[5] after being struck by an Emergence,[10] and records of the disaster in the system were kept by the Jedi Order.[8] By the time of the Galactic Empire's reign, records of the disaster in the Trymant system remained accessible in certain databases. At one point[10] by 3 ABY,[11] intern journalist Parazeen Parapa reviewed the event's files and learned of the destruction of Trymant IV's moons while interviewing the bounty hunters Zuckuss and 4-LOM. Parapa wrote his findings into an article he was writing for the Galactic Digest magazine publication, which Chief Editor Droid TK-7 of the organization's Culture Desk later read and annotated.[10]

Behind the scenes[]

Trymant III was first introduced and identified via a mention in "Tales of Villainy: The Gaze Electric," a secondary comic story published in the sixth issue of the 2020 Star Wars Adventures anthology comic-book series. The story was written by Daniel José Older and the comic issue was published by IDW Publishing[4] on July 7, 2021.[12] On Twitter, Older confirmed that Trymant III was one of the several Trymant IV moons indirectly mentioned in "STET!,"[5] one of the author's short stories. The story was released in 2020 as part of the From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back anthology, thus retroactively making "STET!" Trymant III's first indirect mention.[10]
